It's been a long time since I've been on here. So much has happened in my life since I first added this account. Isshi was recently spayed. The procedure went well, aside from the anesthetic not agreeing with her. Basically, she didn't waking up as soon as they expected her to. Then when she finally came to, she wasn't responding as she should. I had a sleepless night worried about her. But late the next day, I was able to take her home without any further problems. Other then she now has to take liver pills due to her liver being elevated after they took a blood test. I'm not sure how this will effect her in the long run, but I am to go back to vet later on to see if her liver is back to normal.

Late May, I found out Kyoko (my loyal Dobie) had a cancerous tumor in her kidneys. And it had spread to her lungs, which explained why she had suddenly started devolved a cough. I normally am not one to make posts, but sometimes you have to let out what you are going through in your life. Kyoko is 7 years old. Much too young to be dying from cancer. I think what is most upsetting to me is knowing that there's nothing that can be done. I am powerless, even after spending so much money trying to figure out how to help her. It's especially difficult knowing I'm going to lose someone else again, sooo important to me, after losing my father last July. Some days the weight of being left behind is too much.

I'm thankful for every day I have my mom, boyfriend, and dogs in my life. Isshi still manages to keep me smiling.

That's a shame. Sounds like the same thing that did in my Walt the Greyhound. But he was 12 years old.

I lost our Dobie, Misty, in December. She was 10 but had been so vibrant and active, it was a terrible shock. I am sorry you are facing the loss of such a still young Kyoko. They never stay long enough! I recently got a puppy and that has helped a lot to get over the loss. You are lucky to have Isshi and your supportive family. Just enjoy whatever time you have :)

Sorry to hear about Kyoko-it is tough to know that a family member is leaving us.

Tucker had to go on a liver pill when I first got him (he was malnourished because he had been dumped in rural New Mexico).  After a couple of months, the vet re-tested him and he was able to go off the liver pills.  So Isshi may not have to be on them long term, let's hope it is a condition that is easily corrected.
