Baxter Gets a Little Brother

On Friday the 13th, we will be picking up Baxter's true little brother, Ziggy, from the breeder. I can't really describe how excited I am-- not only will there be an oh-so-adorable corgi puppy in the house, but for Baxter to have a playmate. At the same time, I am also nervous as to how this will change our "pack" and if it will make Baxter unhappy to have another dog around. However, I will finally have a pair of corgis which somehow makes my life feel just a little more complete.

Baxter is very social and loves to play with other dogs at the dog park. I just don't know how he is going to feel when we go to meet Ziggy for the first time and then Ziggy gets in the car and comes home with us. I've been reading a lot about introducing dogs and how you should make sure to give your dog lots of positive attention while the puppy is around so he will associate good things with the puppy.

I will be taking two weeks off of work to get everything situated at the house, so hopefully that will smooth over the transition. This weekend will be filled with getting the house ready and picking up a few puppy supplies, new collar, leash, and bowl.

I can't wait!!
