I think Faye is settling in just fine. She's picking up on potty training and she is so well behaved with strangers. She has a tenancy to bark when excited or to squeal like a raptor when she is less than happy but hopefully it's just puppy behavior that she will grow out of. We ignore her when shes being too vocal and she calms down pretty quickly.
The only thing is that I think she is hot and it's just going to get hotter going into August. She sleeps belly-up in front of a fan that we got for her and she is constantly jumping into her water bowl (or sleeping with her paws in it). She also sleeps A LOT! Is this normal puppy behavior or should I be worried about her overheating? She isn't panting excessively and she checked out just fine with the vet at her checkup last week. I'm probably just being a paranoid momma (this is my first furchild). How often should a 9 week old puppy be sleeping? She sleeps large chunks of the day and through the night...
I started giving her ice in her water and she loves it haha. This video is the first time I tried the ice in the water, she was more excited before I turned the camera on (I think she is camera shy)...

When our boys were little they loved playing, laying and sleeping in the water bowl. When our Tenby gets hot he slips in behing the toilet, or lays on our bed belly up under the ceiling fan. The bathtub is a great idea, it will help her learn to love the water. Our boys have the lake and they love to swim . They are like little kids and complain when it is time to go in the house.
We have a fire escape, but I don't think it would be safe to let her play on it. Living in the city there aren't much outside options until she gets a little bigger and I can take her to the park. Even now people give me dirty looks for bringing her on the street before she finishes all her vaccines.
Puppies sleep a lot! Actually adult dogs do too. She may enjoy a little wash basin to play in. Do you have a balcony you could put one out for her? Mine love to play in water especially when it is hot. She is a real cutie and it sounds like you are doing a good job protesting her from the heat.
