It has been a quite stressful week for me.

As some of you know, I made 2 costumes for my corgis - Jeter and Cappy- for a Halloween costume photo contest at our doggy daycare center.  I never made anything like this for my corgis before and am not good at sewing, so it took about 2 weeks. Even though it wasn't an easy project for me, I had so much fun making them and dreaming of reactions from other people.

But once the contest voting started, everything changed - not much fun, and a lot more stress.  Since the voting is by using the "LIKE' button on the doggy daycare center's facebook contest page pictures, someone like me who just started to use facebook with virtually no facebook friends is at a serious disadvantage.

I didn't expect to lead the vote at all. I just wanted people to know I put some effort and love into making their costumes. But day by day, I got more obsessed and upset.

There is a dog who also entered the contest. A cute little dog wearing a costume which is the same one another dog is wearing.  The owner seems to have so many friends who have facebook accounts. There's nothing wrong about it, but I wish that owner put as much energy and effort into his/her dog's costume or took an interesting picture.

I was so naive, I really thought if I made two good costumes, my corgis would be the winners.

Voting will end tomorrow. I don't know if Jeter can maintain the lead - maybe he is now trailing. Cappy is now the 3rd but to me, she deserves to be the 2nd or higher. Am I wrong to think this way?

However, I have to say the whole exprience was not all bad and stressful. I got so much love and support from my fellow corgi owners from all over the world. The power of the corgi is just so unbelievable.

One last time, I'm asking your help. These are the links to vote. If you have a facebook account and think Jeter and Cappy look good enough, please use the "like" button on the pictures.

For Jeter

For Cappy

Thank you so much for your support. Have a great Halloween weekend.

Update : Thanks to your help, Jeter won the contest. Cappy is the runner up. Thank you everyone. You guys are great.Next year we will not enter any online voting contest so there will be no more bugging :)

Oh, and by the way, we can't get over how good your babies are to sit pretty wearing all that stuff!

I voted too. We love the costumes! (you should totally post them on the "Harry Potter Corgis" website too....) anyway, I wonder if less HP involved folks completely get the Luna costume.

we love them!

Oho, now the others don't have a chance because MyCorgi has incredible voting power. The corgis will accept no less

Yes, people with a ton of Facebook "friends" have a natural advantage,
nothing to be done about that so let it go by.  Take proper pride in your work and in your fine Corgi buddies.   Do things because you love to do them, if others appreciate your efforts, that's a bonus.  When we seek the approval of others we're bound to be disappointed often.   If you want to see how people feel about your costumes, take your Corgis trick or treating, I'll bet they'll be a smash hit.

I love the thought and effort you put into the costumes and the pictures! I quit entering into contests the first time I put my son in one and a store bought costume won, even though the home made ones were cuter and unique!

Andrew & Chris--you're welcome! I didn't want to make anyone cry, just wanted Chris to know her efforts weren't in vain! ;)  PS.  I had similar experiences as a kid--my mom made me some awesome costumes: strawberry (complete with a frame to shape it correctly and a green hat for the stem) , Raggedy Ann (with a mop dyed red for hair and red/white striped stockings) and it was the STORE BOUGHT costumes that were deemed the winners.  So, I totally feel her pain!!  (And, as you can clearly tell, I have totally let it go these sooooo many years later! ;)
