I have learned a lot since joining this site. Sadly, I have come to realize that Snickers, although a purebred, is not breed standard. I cannot brush another dog's worth of fur from her coat, she seldom FRAPs, and does not have the long tongue necessary for proper derping. I will count my blessings that she is a corgi in every other way. She is bossy, noisy, and is obsessed with food and chasing or herding things. She is smart, funny and with do ANYTHING for food. Update: After watching the NoNoNo movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=wsDg6_oHzjU I think she fits right in with other corgum.

I enjoyed reading your reassuring response to Snickmom. We had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with her, Snickers, and her son & girlfriend. Lots of people assume that Lucy is fluffy. She does have a luxurious coat but thankfully doesn't shed year-round. Her breeder calls it a "glamor" coat. He should know as he's one of the writers of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Standard.
Comment by Michael Romanos on December 28, 2011 at 11:30pm Your Corgi certainly looks like a Pembroke. There are many Pembroke Corgis in New Zealand with short coats and even very short coats. I prefer a typical Pembroke Corgi coat and my beloved Taylor has a longer coat than normal and it is luxurious and delightful. But short coated abound. Frapping is not restricted to Corgis and whikst it is typical for a Pembroke Corgi to frap, some Corgis just don't. Taylor is not a regular frapper but he is a regular player which requires a game basically started by me and it is chase, hide and seek, him finding a toy - any toy- and running away with it and i am expected to give chase and try and grab it then throw it again and if I throw it onto the bean bag.... well that's just wonderful because Taylor loves to dive onto the bean bag - "killing" the toy and the bag at the same time. So by reading this, you will see that there are alternatives to frapping yet it is a kind of frap.
I don't know about the tongue - but any size is about right if it can be useful for eating, drinking, kissing and licking those she loves.
When LO and BB play fetch I am super amazed at BB long tongue that hangs out the side of his mouth even, and waggles up and down when he is running back.
Comment by Melissa and Franklin! on December 24, 2011 at 12:27am I'm pretty happy with the fact that Frank doesn't have the standard coat! We are the fortunate ones that have shed free corgis!
Mine do have ridiculously long tongues.
