My first week went off without a hitch... I actually discovered a few new bus routes we can take to minimize the load on my back when I was carrying Dash in his Sherpa in/out of the subway. It's actually pretty nice since I have to backtrack less, the timing is pretty similar to the subway, and he gets even more opportunities to hit the dog runs before and after my work. Having Dash on my own actually whipped me into better shape in terms of getting to work on time haha!

I handed off Dash to M yesterday/Monday... We're planning on doing the hand-off on Sundays, but since it was the holiday weekend and M had a friend from out west visiting, it just worked better to do it on Monday. Really hope he's doing well at her new place... I got the sense from her that she was a bit worried things might not work out because of a yappy dog in her new building (Dash has some separation anxiety and "adjacent apartment dog" barking issues). Fingers crossed! I'm trying not to check-in with M during this first week like a worried parent and let her do her thing like she gave me the courtesy last week... plus although the split was amicable, things are still "weird" to say the least.

Anways, the plan for her is to give him a good long walk every morning before work, then crate him till lunch time when she can run back home from her nearby office to walk him, crate him again, run back to work, and then walk him again once she's off the clock. In theory it should all run pretty smoothly... we'll just have to see how he manages in the new environment and more crate heavy routine as well as what happens if she gets swamped at work.

As for myself, Dash will be going to daycare as usual (weekends excluded) when he's with me (coming to work with me on Fridays when possible) and there shouldn't be any hitches unless I have to stay late and can't get him in time before the daycare goes into overnight mode. On the off day where I can't get out in time, don't have enough heads-up to make arrangements, or M can't be a backup... he'll get/have to stay overnight with is daycare friends.

Since yesterdays hand-off it's been a bit rough/weird/sad not having Dash around. It's hard to all of a sudden not have your dog around at home... it's the change in routine that's a bit jarring too. It's also a lot quieter/still. The most depressing bit is going to bed at night and waking up in the morning to an empty crate instead of a crate with a beaming corgi in it...

Ahh. Well I hope things get straightend out ok for you and Dash. Hopefully he will adjust to the new changes in his life like a good little furkid. I haven't had to deal with any of those issues but honestly I worry as much about my three fur kids as I do my three people kids if my husband and I were to ever split up. The "boys" would be ok with me as they are more attached to me but KC would be a whole other issue because she is the oldest and is more "ours" then just mine or his. Good luck to you.
