Busy day...a spay, a neuter, a hernia and a tooth extraction. Update....9/28...back to the vet!

update 9/28 : Wynn's sutures are open...waiting for the vet to get back and then we are going in...NOT an emergency but can't wait till the AM:(

Vet visit: Super sedated for the next 4-5 days...huge cone head too:( After he tore out several of the staples right after the vet had  put them in the vet decided that to put him on a major med and more pain pills as he had just finished his last one tonight. I was going to put him in the big lab kennel tonight but I feel so bad for him plus getting his back end in and front facing forward didn't seem like something I wanted to struggle with tonight. I will sleep on the couch with him on the floor next to me...

Livvy and Wynn spent much of the day in the vet's office today. Livvy got spayed and had a quite a few of what they called "bleeders" plus her hernia taken care of. Livvy has a large incision but is doing well.

Wynn was neutered (prostate problems) and when I asked if they could clean his teeth the vet thought they looked in good shape so he said "yes" well...Wynn is now minus a molar. Wynn is hanging out but resting QUIETLY...not his normal loud self...

I think they are as glad to be home as I am to have them home. Here they are on the way home...didn't want to kennel them is a small crate!

I wish I had known about the string trick when Arnie had to wear one after having a growth removed from a back leg.  He was getting caught on everything.  I shorted the cone enough so he wasn't always tripping but not enough that he could get to his leg.

Thanks Beth...that was you then that I read about the cord...I was punching a hole and looking for a cord when I found a card holder that people use around their neck for name tags...also works well for clipping on the edge of the cone and perfect length to hold the cone up. I was thinking either you or Bev had said this! Wynn is holding his head up fairly well but with the big cone so he can't lick...it still sometimes catches:(

Poor Wynn! When we got Boo from the cat rescue, she had ripped open her stitches and needed to wear a cone for about 10 days.  We tried taking if off after a week and the first thing she did was start licking her stitches.

He looks so sad!  When Jack had his cone for his scratched eye, we punched a hole in the top and put a cord through it so we could hold it up when he went for a walk, or out to potty.

So sorry to hear Wynn has gotten some of his staples out.  It might still be a good time for oregano oil.  that is what I used after my dogs surgeries.  They hated it and me but mostly left incision lines alone.  Of course, it got harder and harder to get it on.

I'm sure you are not surprised that Livvy wants to be out doing things since she is your "high activity" dog.  I'm glad both seem to be recovering well.  Are you going to have to crate Livvy when you work or hire a sitter to watch her?  I wish all of you good luck.

They are both doing well...I have to hide the balls from Livvy and Wynn is back to his talkative self. I do find it interesting that the vet sent the cone I sent back home with my husband...haven't needed it at all! I really have to watch Livvy so she doesn't start overdoing things:(
