I only want to put this out there so that other Corgi buyers don't go through what I am going though right now.

Last year I purchase a beautiful female Corgi from Glenco Corgis out of Michigan, which they called Chelsea.  I signed an agreement with the owner stating that after I spayed her, I would be sent her registration papers application.  It has been almost a year since I had her spayed and still have not received the application and the seller refuses to return any of my phone calls and believe me there have been too many to count.

BUT, that is not the real TRAGEDY in this story.  I discovered today, my Corgi, who I love dearly has heartworms.  My Vet is sure that they were contracted the summer before I purchased her,( due to her preventive program she has been on since I've owned her and the time it takes to get a positive reading on the heartworm test.)  Now I have to put her through a very painful and somewhat dangerous treatment to cure her.

Please buyers, beware and if you would, keep my girl in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

thank you so much for all of the well wishes.  In hindsight, I should have seen (I worked at vet clinics for years) several of the signs that I may not be purchasing from a reputable breeder.  At the time though, I had been in real pain from losing a dog, who had been by my side for years.  Brolyn (the name we gave our sweet girl) helped to heal that hole in my heart and now I'm praying that I will be able to heal her's.

How sad :-( It takes 6 months for a test to show up positive from the time the heartworm was contracted. Unfortunately heartworm preventative isn't 100% effective and dogs (especially in the midwest/south) can contract heartworm even if they are on preventative. If she had a negative test last year and she's been on preventative then the company that you get your heartworm preventative from should pay for treatment. Its a very scary time now to have a pup with heartworm because the immiticide has been pulled from the market and is very hard to get in the US. Good luck with treatment and make sure to get another test to double check that she actually is positive. I've seen at least 3 false positives in the last few years.

I'm sorry to hear that! I really hope she gets better fast.

It's funny ((ironic really)), that that particular breeder has this link on the site that says "Call the Breeder!" talking about how if you have problems with your dog, then call the breeder you got it from. :/ If they really believed that, then they would have answered your calls!

She was tested, but they have to been in the dog's system so long before they show up.  In which case, I purchased her in the Fall, which wasn't soon enough for the test to read positive from her getting them that previous summer

I am sorry you are having such problems.  How old was she when you got her?  Usually if a pup is less than 4 months old they don't bother to test, just start the preventative.  Older than that they should be tested before going on the preventative.
