Calling All Prayers & Good Thoughts

This is not Corgi related but I wanted to reach out and ask that you send your prayers and good thoughts to my father Eli. He was diagnosed with cancer and the odds are stacked against him. He is currently trying to recover from two surgeries and become well enough to leave the hospital and start chemo. He's been in the hospital for a month now and it's been difficult for him as well as the rest of my family. The doctors have given him a year or two to live and the chemo will help but cannot get rid of the cancer. We all know better than to just trust the doctors so we're hoping for a much better outcome. We appreciate your prayers and good thoughts to help him through this. I know I can always count on my Corgi family. :)

He's doing better. He seemed to like getting out of his room for a minute but it was so hot outside he didn't want to stay long. Just over the last couple days he's made a lot of improvement. We've been able to get him up and walking more and he's starting to eat. He still has a drain in his side which they will remove as soon as the are sure he won't start throwing up and tomorrow they are putting a port in his chest which they will be able to use for medications as well as the chemo. It's supposed to be better than the pick line iv he has in now. A couple more days and they're hoping to move him to an assisted living center to do rehab and build up his strength and then from there he will start the chemo. He still has a long way to go but I'm glad to see some improvement.

The only meds he's had are pain meds (which he said were causing him to have bad dreams and paranoid thoughts so he started refusing any pain meds a couple days ago) and he is on IV fluids, lipids and antibiotics. The doctor isn't overly concerned about his confused state but would like to get a CT scan of his head to eliminate certain possibilities, unfortunately my Dad is refusing to let them do the scan because of the state he's in. We're going to see if we can get him to sign something giving my oldest brother power of attorney so we can make sure he gets what he needs. We're also going to see about taking him outside in a wheelchair today to see if getting out of that room he's been sitting in for a month will help. Hopefully today will be a better day.

Thoughts and prayers are going out for your dad as well as you. Right out about withholding info about his dog. As a person who has gone through two lengthy illnesses with both parents you might want to check on his meds it sounds like prehaps they have maybe "tweeked" something that is not agreeing with him. God Bless you and your family....^-^

You and your family our in my thoughts and prayers as well. I agree about not wanting to tell your Dad about his dog, as positive thoughts are the most helpful right now. My Mom passed away from non-hodgkins lymphoma seven years ago, although she had been fighting it for years and years before that. I know its not easy. **Hugs**
I am praying your Dad gets strong enough so that he is able to start chemo treatments.
