This was my first ever camping trip and Shiro's first encounter of ocean. I think my fiance Evan had camping trips before, but he was a boy and he probably don't remember much.
Anyways, we borrowed my dad's tent, got plenty of snacks, anti-mosquito stuff, bedding etc. We drove to the beach for about 2.5 hours due to pouring rain half the way. It was so bad that everyone had to slow down on the highway to 50 mph and turn on hazard lights. Shiro doesn't care about rain or storms so he just slept in his crate all the way. Thankfully it wasn't raining at the beach, but was cloudy and not hot. Shiro was scared of the waves at first, so loud and big, but once he got in he realized it was fun. He tried to catch the foam, runnig back and forth, rolling in the sand and digging.
After everyone had enough fun we went to our camping site to set up the tent and get some rest. It was alreasy dark, about 9pm, so we had to have car light on. The tent set up didn't take long, but as soon as we got in we realized how incredibly hot it was in there. My dad likes mounteneering, so his tent is designed to be warm and cozy. Needless to say that's not what we wanted in 70F heat at night. Shiro avoided it as he slept in his crate in between the tent layers. He was so excited to be outside and kept forgetting to go potty, just chasing the roaches in the dark. Yes, roaches. There were lots of them, so we had to make sure to seal the tent which cut off the access to fresh air completely.
After it cooled down a bit, around 2am we finally started falling asleep. About an hour later some family came to the camp and started setting up their tent with the help of giant bright light. They were about 10 feet away from us. An hour later their chuhuahua started barking non stop for whatever reason. I still can't understand why they didn't sut it up right away. Afte about half an hour of this BS I screamed out asking them to do something about it. Amazingly the dog shut up and didn't make a noise for the rest of the night.
In the morning, when we were packing up this little dog came up to Shiro and started teasing him as he was on the leash tied up to a bench. He made sure to pee at least 5 times on a nearby tree and all other trees around.
We went to the beach after that and it was really great. Not many people early in the morning, cool and cloudy. We left soon after noon due to incredible heat, and Shiro slept the entire trip home and then all day and all night.
I don't know if ever going to camp at the beach again, but definitely not at the same place and not in THAT tent. Other than the sleepless night it was fun!
