today was machete’s first ride in the ‘74 in his new, snazzy puppy booster seat!

we went to cushing park, and met a cute ol’ pug named pugsley and saw a bunch of other dogs too.   there were snow fraps and frolicking in the rain.  tons of giant puddles to flop around in, too.

also, machete prefers riding in a booster seat to riding in a crate in the backseat of the car, he likes looking out the windows and getting ear scritches at stop light.

he was very well-behaved both to the park and to home, and didn't whine or fuss or cry at all (definitely better than crate rides in the car).

this is one plumb tuckered out corgi we got here!

@Sarah, amazon has some booster seats too, they just cost a bit more than the solvit on drfosters, for once. but that was only because of sale.  definitely keep an eye on stuff on amazon because it's usually super fast shipping and good prices.

our local pet shops had some booster seats for outrageous markup.

Thanks for all of the info, Rae!  I'm going to check at my local independent pet store to see what they have and/or order online.  Phoebe had not been in the car for awhile and suddenly is just barely fitting the crate.  She gets spayed tomorrow and then will be mostly home for 2 weeks keeping quiet so I'll have time to organize one by the time she's back to normal activities.

this is the booster seat we have:

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=22023we got it on mega sale, and it has a clip that secures him to the seat via his harness (we only use a harness for seatbelt purposes, not for walking). this is the JUMBO size booster seat, which allows him to lie down and be seated comfortably. it's rated and tested for up to 175 lbs. weight, but ideal for pets up to approx. 30 lbs. weight.

he should be able to use it as an adult, but it's for one car and we have a crate for the other car.  my car is a '74 monte carlo, so the roof is really, really low. i'll see how he does when he's older/full-size but i don't want him to bang his head on the roof of the car or anything so we'll probably switch to a traditional car seatbelt like this:

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=16689

but he could probably still use the booster seat as an adult in our other car.

I like the booster seat and the corgi in it, of course.  Is this a seat he can use as an adult, too or is it just for puppy sizes.  Looks like a lot of room - where did you get it?  Phoebe is not wild about car rides and is actually borderline too big for the cat crate she rides in now so I have to do something else pretty quick.

Nice seat! Is he strapped in to the booster?
