My sweet Corgi Lucy has a white ring around her neck and breast. When we put her city dog tag on her it turns her neck gray. It drives me crazy because it makes her look dirty even after a bath. I take her to the dog park a lot and she has to have this tag on for proof of shotsAny suggestion on what I might be able to do to stop this from happening.

Love the Quiet Spot.
I highly highly highly recommend Boomerang Tags. They've got tags you attach directly on to the collar which alot of people like . I love their thick plastic ones. Very well made and don't stain anything. They're a small business and make great stuff. Here's the website: http://www.boomerangtags.com/?gclid=CJbzveSk0a8CFUmR7Qod0ntyEQ
you can buy tags made from laser etched acrylic.
Both my dogs have that Quiet Spot thing. It works awesome and has lasted for many years. =)
I know exactly what you mean... At the recommendation of a trainer I worked with I ended up buying a little neoprene case called "Quiet Spot". The actual intent is to keep tags from jangling, but it works great for keeping his neck white (and it has the added bonus of drying quickly, which is a plus given how much ours is in the ocean/water). You can get them from Amazon:

We have that issue with the rabies tags which are required by state law. In another thread someone said you can coat them with clear nail polish and it will stop it. Haven't tried that myself because it doesn't really bother me. We live in the country so they're white isn't white half the time anyway! LOL
Could you put the tag on your key ring instead? That way you have it with you all the time and can prove she has her shots and it won't be able to stain her fur.
I think someone has used a plastic slip cover for them before... or I'm sure you could make some sort of cover easily out of scrap fabric.

I believe its the tag and the ring that attaches the tag to the collar. I've never had problems with the leash collar hook.
