I hope to never have another day like yesterday. It all started with Kadi vomiting. It went from bad to worse after that. My elderly mother, who is staying in our living room while her house is being built, woke up terribly confused, not making much sense with what she said. Kadi's vomiting increased and my mom's confusion did, as well.

Finally I decided I had no choice--I called my husband and asked him to leave work to help me with all the 'patients'. We put Brodie in the basement in his little pen, next to Kipper and hoped for the best, while my son and I loaded Kadi up in one Jeep and my husband loaded my mom into the other. We convoyed to the vet and dropped Kadi off, with the agreement they would use their best judgment on treatment and plan on boarding her for at least one night, possibly longer. Then we headed to the ER with my mom.

After many hours in ER, and still no clear determination for my mother's problems, they admitted her to the hospital for further tests. Somewhere in there, I called to check on Kadi and was told she was doing well, they thought it was just an enteritis and were treating accordingly.

Eleven hours later (yes, it took that long) we finally got home to find a disaster in the basement. Brodie greeted us at the basement door, because he had managed to BREAK one of the snaps that holds the pen together, then he basically ransacked the basement. Bless his heart, I couldn't scold him, because I know he was just freaking out with us gone so long and having taken Kadi. He looked frantically for both she and my mom when we got home. Who would have thought in three weeks time, he would have bonded so closely to Kadi to react so severely?

Anyway, it was almost 1:00 this morning before we had the mess cleaned up and were able to get to bed. Now we have to figure out what to do today. I called the vet and Kadi is doing well, so we are going to get her and bring her home, hoping that will calm Brodie a bit, but we will have to leave them so we can go to the hospital to be with Mother.

Wow...when it rains, it pours!

Today was much better! The vet said Kadi was doing fine, so we went to pick her up and while we were there got a product called DAP. When we left them in the basement today, we sprayed that on his towel and toy and we came home to everything in its place. Not sure if it was the spray or having Kadi or both, but sure glad of it! Mother is still confused and they can't find the problem, but she's in good hands too. Thanks for all the positive thoughts!

What a day!  I hope that Mother is doing better!  I understand...I had my Mom move in with me two years ago and you never know what's going to happen.  I'm glad Kadi is better!  Poor Brodie, too.  Eeeesh, what a day....  I hope today everything works out.
