Daisy's Eye Iz OK ...............Yay! Yahoo!!!! Arrrrooooooooo!!! Can you tell we're happy???

Dear Weeders

I knows it's been some time since I last powsted in my blawg . . . it's been a busy and sometimes twying 7 dayz, but we iz all fine now. Although I would like to write dis powst, I am turning my typer thingie over to the Girl of the Week, Miss Daisy, who wants to tell her story her ownself. I will weturn to my normal reporting duties verwy soon. ---your faithful correspondent, Skeezix

Hello, dear Weeders from ME, Daisy! I cans SEEEEEE out of bofe my eyes. There is no longer any awful stuff on my eyeball. I don't have icky stuff glued to my eyelid. In other words, dear Weeders, I CANS SEEEEEEEEEEEE out of my formerly not-seeing eye. I am a seeing 2 eye girl now.

But it taked longer dan we expected, natcherly. Momma sez dat 'noffing simple iz ebber easy' an' she sure was right about dat. So here iz my quick rundown of my last seben days as a patient.

Momma an' I wented from home early early inna morning a week ago to the specialist eye doctor vet, Dr. Kelly Sigel, down in Winston-Salem where she dids my eye surgery. It was a long day, but I don't bemember mutch of it cuz I was a sleep or sleepy anyhows. Momma, onna other hand/paw, bemembers too much, she sez. During my time in surgery an' recoverwy Momma hads to pass da time for a long time, like maybe 8 hours.

So she sez she first went an gotted herself a huge capachino (I thinks it is a new hat). Den she wented shopping at the Petsmart and gotted us goodies--toys an' cookies. Den she wented to da sporting goods shop and gotted herownself goodies. Finally, she wented to Barnes an' Noble an' gotted a big coffee an' a piece a cheezkake (dat sounds good to me). Den she boughted herownself some books an' sat an read an' read' an' read. Den she read some more.

Finally our surgeon called an' said I was ready to go home to my own bed. So Momma gotted me, along wif my medicines and directions for taking care of me. My Dr. Kelly was very kind to me. I likes her an' so does Momma.

So we gotted home an' I wents to sleep right away.

In the morning Dr. Kelly called an' wanted to check on me. She decided dat I hads to come back in the nex' day for her to take a look at my eye again becawse it didn't sound quite ok to her. Momma was very nervous and sad, but da next day we dwove back down to da clinic, dis time in Greensboro where Dr. Kelly also pwactices (I don't think she has to pwactice anyfing. She is excellent just da way she iz).

Wen Dr. Kelly seed my eye she said she needed to fix it again because my tearz hadn't started like they was supposed to. Ebry time I eats my new "tears" are supposed to come from the tear duct dat Dr. Kelly moved to inside my lower eyelid. But dey wasn't coming der.

So Momma had to do the waiting dance again. She was verwy tired from worry an such, but she found herself a shopping pwace and did what she calls "compensatory shopping and eating." Dat must be what corgis always do, as I eats all the time (if Momma would let me, whitch she does not . . . rats). But I am not compensating for nuffing!!! Momma read, an' read, an' read . . . just like 2 days before. She ated some keesh, whateber dat is . . . I would like to eat some myself. An' she bought some stuff at a place she said was called "Are Eeeee Eye." But I didn't see any eye glasses in da bag, just camping stuff. Finally Momma could come an' get me again, just like last time. Only dis time Momma got losted an' it was in the 5 o'clock Fwiday twaffic. But she gotted there an' gotted me.

Dr. Kelly said to pway dat dis second operation worked cuz der was nuffing else to be done if it didn't. So we all pwayed all week end dat it would work.

Momma was what she calls "in despair" because she didn't think it was working cuz there were no tears when she broughted me foods. Howeber, she didn't call Dr. Kelly; she waited like she was supposed to for our Wednesday checkup.

Momma was so happy on Tuesday when she sawed my eye making tears when I was eating. Dat was prayers answered Momma said.

So we again wented down to Winston-Salem to see Dr. Kelly because she was there that day instead of Greensboro. Dr. Kelly was so happy dat my eye had worked so good. She said she had worries all weekend about me. I wasn't worried. I knew dat all da prayers would help me . . . an' dey did help really good.

We wented home an' I slept a lot. I have been eating baby foods to keep fwom hurting my incision inside my mouth, but now I cans has grown up foods as well. I like all da spoiling I am getting an' I plans to take full advantage of Momma's love for me and gets lotsa foods broughted to me. Momma is giving me bweakfast in my nest--all my meals akshully. It is verwy nice.

So, dear Weeders, I, Daisy, iz doing just fine. I cans SEE. I am learning how it feels to not feel goop and scritchies in my eye. Riley and Skeezix have been verwy kind to me. Dey iz verwy loving an' are gentle wif me. I iz a verwy lucky girl, dat is for certain, to has my own fambly who loves me. Thank you God and ebryone who prayeds for an' thought about me.

Da only thingiie dat I wish I didn't have to do iz to wear this weird cone thingie. It is to keep me frwom pawing at my face, but it scares me because I cannot see anything on the sides of me. I also am thinking that it is not a verwy good fashion statement, eben wif da purple duct tape Momma putted on it to hold da edges together after she had trimmed da cone down so I didn't twip over my feets. I wishes I could ditch da cone cuz I wanna scratch my nose an' also feel da spikey hairs on my face where I was clipped. Momma sez it makes me look verwy surpwized all the time!

So, dear Weeders, thanks verwy mutch for caring about me and for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. Dey really helped. Now I believe even more in miracles an' da power of love.

Daisy wif Skeezix's typer thingie.
