I have been loving to read the posts by all of the members about their new puppies. I have been remembering the fun we had last year when we brought Twinkie home. I also remembered how we just avoided disaster when she fell from over 7 feet from our deck just a few days after her homecoming! Our deck is probably similar to most with the stairs being open at the back and of course the spaced railing at the top. Twinkie had ran up the stairs to catch her big sister who decided to stop and have a sit near the top. Twinkie tried to do the same thing but her longer body made her little bottom go through the stairs and out the other side. I was outside with them when this happend. It was terrifying watching her drop. She seemed to be fine but we took her to the vet to be sure. Everything checked out, thankfully. To make sure that never happened again, we bought green, plastic garden fencing at the home improvement store and stapled it to the underside of the stairs and all along the inside of the top railing. From across the yard you could not even see it. We kept it up until we were sure Twinks would not fit though any of the openings again. I just wanted to pass along a lesson that we had to learn the had way.

When we got Izzy, I had to block a few areas around our fenced yard too. That is a good reminder for people with puppys. Unfortunately it did not help the poor bunny trying to escape our doberman!
