Dodger's Bad Day
Our sweet little Dodger has been having a rough day today. It started out pretty good or so I had thought. Within less than an hour it went SPLAT. First, Dodger became very confused when Jonathan decided to switch his routine (bad idea, the ninny) by not letting him go out onto the balcony anymore, but switching him to being hooked on a leash and walked around the neighborhood. He didn't like the harness (threw a huge fit acting like it was the worst invention ever), but slowly adjusted to having a collar on. Well Dodger was confused and refuses to go any further than a few blocks away from our home or even go back to our home. He also lost all remembrance of his name today except for a times when playing. The next exciting thing that happened today, Dodger decided to roll around in his own pee and almost flopped into the door (mini heart attack when that almost happened). So of course I rubbed him down and praised him for being such a good and sweet boy (hoping that would make some of a difference). Brought him in and gave him a bath (he doesn't like water, go figure). The final event that has happened today has been quite a surprise. I found fleas on Dodger! We were assured that he didn't have any fleas when we brought him home (his breeder had given him a bath the day we picked him up and he's had weekly visits to the vet and I had thought all of his scratching had been caused by dandruff due to the fact that I found dandruff on him), but I ended up pulling four fleas off of him. So off to the tub for bath number two and of course, he didn't want to have another bath (this time once he was dried he came out twice as fluffier than the last time, it was so cute) but he got one anyway. After his bath I had taken him outside so he could start his new schedule and he almost falls into a wasps nest (yes a wasps nest on the ground, mind blown for the day). However, he made a friend with a nice little pug from our one neighbor and it turns out the lady use to be a pet sitter for corgis! Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for him.

As Jane said, a simple bath of the dog and vacuuming isn't going to do it. We just went thru the start of a flea infestation...the hot humid weather we had for several week is prime breeding weather for fleas.
After doing lot of reading the Frontline Plus is suppose to be the best for dogs and can be used on puppies. Just scrubbing the floor or carpet is not enough. Any loose things like bedding, scatter rugs, throws should be washed in hot hot water and put thru the dryer on high. I use a spray made by Sentry for the rugs and such. It's in a big can. You just need to remove the animals while you spray and it dries quickly and there is no odor..which is super good. Sometimes it does require a second spraying depending on bad the fleas are I've been using this thru a couple of infestations when they happen and I am please with how it works.
After using the topical stuff on the dogs you made find some sluggish fleas generally in an area well away from where it's applied but they are easily combed out and disposed of.
I have it in my head that you also have a cat. If you do the cat also needs to be treated. In my reading I found that the Advantage II for Cats was highly recommended. The one spot where my black cat sleeps was covered in flea dirt, after treatment of the cat, washing the bedding and combing the cat there was a single speck of flea dirt on the bedding.
A natural product for bedding is pennyroyal. I'm not sure of the application but you can google that.

I know Frontline Plus can be used as early as 8 weeks. Not sure about the others, you could always call your vet.

Is he even able to be put on one though? Don't majority of preventatives have an age limit or such for the puppies? We picked up a flea comb last night at Petco that way we can monitor to see if he's still carrying fleas (hoping that'll help) and as I said we keep the house well cleaned.

We cleaned the entire place when we moved in, we cleaned it before and after my cat was moved in, we clean the carpet every Wednesday and weekend, and after I saw the fleas on him and got him clean; I put him in his crated and went straight to scrubbing and vaccuming the carpet. Hoping this isn't/won't be the start of a flea outbreak.

I would get him on a preventative, and as Linda said check all his bedding and any carpet too. Usually one bath isn't really enough to eradicate the problem.

Did you treat the carpeting, furniture and what not for fleas? Fleas spend the majority of time off the animal so if he had fleas on him it's a good bet they are in the carpet too.

No we don't have one for him. We washed him down with a small amount of Dawn dish soap and that killed all the fleas that had been on him. We're keeping a close eye on him to see if they come back though.
