So I was driving home from school...and I see this lady walking her dog on the road "connecting" toward my cul de sac and I see that it's a corgi.

*looks at the corgi from behind* and I'm thinking..."Aww...that's a cute corgi...that's cool that there's another corgi owner in my neighborhood.....
*passes by to look at the side of the corgi* gosh....it looks awefully a lot like Ein...It can't be Ein. He's at home.
*slows down from 25 to like 5 mph and look at the front of the corgi* Huh?....OMG..it IS Ein!

The lady asked me if this was my dog, and I said yes. She found him wandering a block away, she took him to the vet and scanned his microchip and by the address, she knew that it was our house. She says she walks her dog(s) around our cul de sac and recognized our corgis behind the fencing. She asked if the other one got out. I said I didn't know.

I thanked her many times, and brought Ein back in and checked the backyard and I let out a big sigh of relief, Brian was still there. I looked around the sides of the house to see how Ein got out; and the side gate was slightly ajar...I'm thinking he squeezed through it. She told me around what time she found him and it looks like he got out an hour later after I left for school. I checked the home phone answering machine and yep, there were calls about him from her. Too bad I was at school :(

I am thinking about building/setting up a few rows of fences one behind another, just as reinforcement.

Whew, what a close call! Thank goodness that lady was so nice. And thank goodness Brian did not decide to follow his big brother!

You need to put something in front of that gate before you go anywhere tomorrow. We secured all our fenceline by zip-tying chicken wire to the fence and landscape-pegging it into the ground. We bought the 4 foot wide chicken wire and attached the wire to the fence about 2 feet above the ground, so that the wire also came along the ground about 2 feet. It makes the fence pretty much un-diggable.

Maybe if you secured a baby gate to the side gate it'll keep him in.

Ein, stay home!

I'm glad Ein is ok, please don't leave him in the yard unattended, especially when you're out, too many things can go wrong.

Wow! A happy ending! What a thoughtful neighbor. So glad Ein made it home. My lawn mowing service left my side gate open one day and I didn't notice, I let the corgis out and they escaped onto our street for about an hour. Thank goodness my neighbors recognized them and knocked on my door.
