Wonderful solstice weekend. Neighborhood party, ran around the lake, walked dogs to coffee shop and all around the neighborhood, called Mom and best friends, bought some brandy, bathed both dogs, and sat around drinking brandy & egg nog, combing the dogs while listening to Patrick Stewart's masterful narration of "A Christmas Carol" [highly recommended]. Whole family: me, Lori, kid home from college, both corgis, and the cat, probably even the mouse who lives in the basement. All surrounded by tufts of corgi fur. What more could one ask for? Like, we are READY for Christmas, and feeling well-blessed.

That sounds like something I need to look for for next year. I just love his voice...I could listen to him for hours.

The narration I referred to is a cassette tape, no video, no sound effects. Everything -- wind, bells, sound effects -- is vocal. He's a great raconteur.
I read the unabridged original to our daughter when she was little. Recommended.

Agreed, Patrick Stewart's Scrooge is the best one yet. My kids tell me that's the only one they will watch...but then again I have not found my copy of Henry Winkler's version to show them yet, he hee.
