Thank you so much for all of the great information. The potty training tips would also be very helpful I am not by any means a pott traing expert.

Alot of old towels for the babies to hang out on, a heating pad on LOW (under said towels) to keep the babies warm, a large box for mommy and babies. They will be very dependent on their mommy for quite a few weeks but our female let us know when she was wanting a break from the puppies so we would take her out of the box and allow her some freedom. To start with she would not stay away from her puppies for real long and gradually she would spend less and less time in the pen/box with them. But again for the first few weeks she will take care of the babies hopefully independent of alot of prompting from you.

Mommy will need more food and water that she normally would eat as she is attempting to produce alot of milk for the babies.

Our female had one liter of puppies prior to coming to live with us so she was not a "new" mom. As a "new" mom you should watch her and make sure she is not moving around the puppies an excessive amount as you do not want them to be stepped on.

We began to pet and love on the puppies, at first our female did not particularly like us picking them up (away from her) so we loved and petted on them with her in the box with them and when they got older (a week or so)we would acutally pick them up and hold them. I know this sound CRAZY but start to handle and stroke ther paws (feet). This was something that the breeder that we got AJ from was really big on they felt that it was a big deal as they have sensors/nerves in their feet (according to the breeders)

You will have a great experience hopefully momma will do most of the work for a few weeks. When they get their wheels under them I can share some great potty training tips that were VERY effective with our puppies. At 8 weeks they left our home practically house trained!

Be prepared for company in your home. We had people coming to see the "babies"...they were quite the thing as Cardigans are rare in our area. ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY!
