As some of you have already read, I got Winston neutered on Friday and have been experiencing some problems. Here's an update though. Thanks again for all the encouragement and advice guys, you don't know how helpful you all really are.

I took Winston back to our vet today and got him checked out. They said that his stitches were a little open and infected so he gave us a pill type of antibiotic to give Winston on top of the Amoxicillan. He's still having to endure the cone but he's adjusting to it pretty well. He quickly learned that he can scoop his toys and treats up with the lip of the cone and has been practicing flinging his hedgepig at me. However, nothing has helped him not run into the coffee table yet. Also, I don't know if it's the drugs or the cone, but he has the desire to lay REALLY close to our space heater now, so I keep having to move him further back. =_=

Back to the vet though. He said that he was really sorry Winston was having trouble and to do the warm compress like you all advised me. And that after a day or two, he could take his cone off since his licking wouldn't really pose aany problems anymore. The vet didn't charge me for anything, not even the extra antibiotics so I'm a little embarassed I reacted so quickly. I guess I'm just more overprotective than I thought. I love my little guy so much :O

We just finished putting the christmas tree up so Winston isn't so sure what's going on. He keeps circling it, like he wants to know why the outside world is suddenly in the apartment. Ahh, I'm so glad he's going to be just fine. We're excited for his first Christmas. Target was killing me when I walked by the pet section and saw all the special holiday toys and sweaters. I've got to head off though, Winston wants his dinner! Thanks again for all the concern and support!

Good to hear Winston got in to see your vet and that things are on the right track. Don't feel bad for getting so excited. It wasn't your fault the vet was closed and doesn't have emergency care or a way to be reached after hours.

Yeah, I made sure to hang the ornaments high enough so he can't reach them. We dropped one and since our apartment is all tile flooring, it shattered! Winston isn't very interested in the tree yet, but we didn't buy the tree liquid, we're just using regular water. Still, I'll make a little wall so he can't get to it, I didn't even think that he'd want to drink out of it. Thanks for letting me know!

yay! good to hear he is doing better. Kudos to your vet for being so supportive. Its hard not to react first and think later when it comes to our little bunny butts!

Glad to hear he's doing better, make sure you hang the ornaments a little higher, broken glass can be a mess. Also if you have a real tree, block the base area so that he can't drink the toxic liquid.
