It has been a few mixed days with little Rory Fluffypants. He had a tough time at the vet (which was weird because he was a perfect angel last time), and his labs came back worm free again but also with Giardia again. ARRRRGGGG! Are we ever going to get rid of this stuff?

We're doing Panacur again (which I will try to mix into one of those doughy pill pockets and give as a treat to avoid picky eater issues) + one other med that I can't remember off the top of my head (going to pick them up this afternoon). I am scared that living in an apartment complex is going to make this difficult- I can't bleach the grass, other dogs and cats are in the area and there really isn't a dog free place on the grounds.

I guess the good news is that he is so far asymptomatic/exhibits only very mild symptoms, but it is still so frustrating! Also, it looks like Albon kicked the Coccidia in the pants, so that is also good news.

Also, the other medication is 100mg of Metronidazole (6 capsules). Hopefully, these two will knock it out!

Bananas... I will have to try that! I actually have ended up mixing it with a tablespoon of the wet version of his dry food and giving it to him after dinner as a special treat. So far, no problems. :)

Sophie had to take Panacur a few years ago. She loves bananas, so we sprinkled it onto a bit of mashed banana and she'd lap it right up. One trick we learned is to give a bit of the "delivery agent" as a treat without the meds first, then give it with the meds. We call it "priming the pump."

Hope things get better soon. At least if the symptoms are mild that helps some. I would also think that sometimes 1 treatment isn't enough? I wonder if hydrogen peroxide would kill this too? It's not so strong and it works well for many things...will try to google this.

Thanks Natalie; it is indeed frustrating! I am taking heart that he at least appears to be his normal, crazy-frappy self. :)
