I was just wondering, do any of you put socks or booties on your corgis? My house has hardwood floors and whenever Scraper and I play fetch he always has trouble stopping himself and will run into the wall or he can't get a good grip and fumble around. I'm thinking about getting him socks or booties so he won't get hurt but I want to find out if they work well or not. Please let me know!

Al & Gwynnie just slide into the walls like hockey players when they're chasing the tennis ball.
I took out the old carpet and refinished the oak flooring before the dogs acquired us. Now, as much of the flooring as possible is covered with nonskid throw rugs to give the dogs better footing!
I think this IS important: we position nonskid throw rugs at all customary leap points (leaping onto/off of the bed, sofa, etc.) for traction.
I don't think dog claws are a significant source of floor wear. Sand/dirt, sliding chairs, human shoe traffic is much more important I think.

I'm trying to get Caleb used to socks, so we can visit my boyfriend's family (Their new house has nice hard wood floors that they're afraid will get messed up from puppy toenails). He won't walk in them yet...unless I'm coaxing him with food, and even then it only works half of the time. If you do decide to go with socks or booties, you may need use lots and lots of treats until your puppy gets used to them! Oh, and have a camera handy to take pictures of those first steps in socks, it's HILARIOUS!

I have laminate throughout. Its pretty funny watching Geordi widen his back legs to "brake" and slow down, We play indoor fetch down our hallway which has a runner on it so he doesn't slip and slide too much. I think the booties would be more trouble than they'd be worth. I could just see Geordi loosing interest in fetch and spending his time trying to get the booties off!

Does he have long hair between his toes? I've heard that if you clip that short it will help. I have hardwood too, but always throw things on the rugged or carpeted areas so he doesn't have to run on JUST the hardwood.

Maybe a throw rug would be a nice break...
