Help! Baron can't eat or drink with collar on.

Baron got home today from the big snip. He can't eat or drink without me holding the bowls for him. Help! I have to go back to work tomorrow.

We used the blue e-collar on SIdney too; it works much better than the cone style!

oh the procollar is so awesome!!! We started with the e-collar but the bottom of it would get stuck on the ground and nibbler would just be standing forlornly staring at the ground.

Bootsie didn't get one, he tried to lick his stitches the first day but after my saying "chh" over and over again he stopped. He got four days of rimadyl and seems to be fine. Tomorrow will be one week.

Thank you everyone. We tried elevating the bowl and he still kept hitting it with his collar. The second the collar came off he was trying to get to the stitches. Baron now has the e-collar. I went right down to petsmart and bought him one. See photo of happy Baron. He also got a new package of bully sticks.

It might be that he can't reach the bowls. Have you tried an elevated bowl?

My friend had that problem, her dog would just stand in one spot and not move while the collar was on, for hours and hours, but was fine with out it on. what she did was buy one of the doggie dipers you would use while you dog is in heat, It coverd the right spot, and would alow the dog to do it's normal thing, while she was out or couldn't keep an eye on the dog, when she could she would take it off. Any large pet store will carry them.

Guinness didn't need one, but the vet said to keep an eye on him just in case. He never even tried to get at the stitches. They were internal and didn't seem to bother him at all, we didn't even have him on pain meds.

I would try taking it off while you're close by and see how Baron does. He may not even try to lick or bite.

I didn't have to use e-collars with Teagen and Jordan either the vet didn't give us one. They did send us home with a 4 day supply of Rymadil so the corgi's were not hurting, which might be why they didn't fuss?
Do you have a close friend or relative that stay's at home and might not mind a visit from a cute corgi puppy?

I just saw a thing on http://www.instructables.com/id/Superior-post-surgical-feline--cani... where they made a jacket out of an old t shirt and safety pined it along the back of the animal. It covers the surgery site so they cant lick it.
