I am very excited to share with my friends and family that I am once again blessed with being chosen to go to Africa on mission with my church Carson Valley Christian. This will be my second trip to Nairobi, Kenya to help our sister church and work in the slum areas surrounding Nairobi.

My last trip in 2005 was a life changing event for me. During that trip, the time that we spent in medical camps, I felt led to pursue my degree in Nursing. When I got home, I left my 15 year career as an Accounting Assistant and I went through classes to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. I began working in a long term health care facility in Northern Nevada. The time I have spent caring for these residents has only increased that need to get my Nursing degree. I am 4 classes from completing my pre-requisites to apply to the two year Nursing program. If not for the experiences in Africa I would not have found my true calling in life. God gave me an incredible gift on that trip. I look forward to what he has to share with me this time.

Our goals for this trip are installing a rainwater harvesting system at Tumaini church, a small church in the center of the Tumaini slum. We will also assist Beacon of Hope in setting up VTC’s (voluntary testing centers) for HIV/Aids testing in various slums around Nairobi. It will be an ongoing project, year-round, with Carson Valley Christian helping financially as well as when we are there as a team. The people we are helping are very thankful and despite the living conditions they show an incredible love and faith in Christ that is not only touching but teaches one what faith truly is.

It is my hope that I can share this journey with my family and friends. I have enclosed a slip for you to give your name and address so that I can put it in my journal that I will carry with me to Africa. On this slip is your commitment to keep me and my fellow missionaries in your prayers during our trip to Africa and if at all possible make a donation to help me with the cost for the trip. If a donation is not possible, your prayers are a blessing in themselves.
