Ichigo..GO GO

We've had Nana for 2 months and thought she needed a friend to keep her company during the day when we were at work. We love corgis so we wanted another one. We decided that we would try to find a male around her age. Checked with the Corgi rescues and various pet finders. We even checked Craig's list and other online classifieds...jackpot! A breeder in Sanford had put an ad in the classifieds for puppies but at the bottom of the ad made mention of having a male corgi free to a good home. We called him went out to meet the dog and Ichi was ours. His original name was Hoss. His registered name is Royalty's King of Bonanza. Not a fan of Bonanza so we renamed him Ichigo. He is very red in his coloring like a strawberry...so Ichigo. But we call him Ichi for short. We have a thing for Japanese numbers so Nana is seven and Ichi is one. Nana's seven name represents the number of times we stopped at her cage. Ichi only took one look for us to fall in love. Secretly, Nana only took one look but it took seven trips up and down the room to convince my husband that we had to get her that day.
Ichi is fitting in well with his new family so far. They get along great. We feel our family is complete for now.

Comment by initch on November 29, 2008 at 3:05pm: If Nana had shown to be seriously aggressive with other dogs we wouldn't have thought about getting Ichi. What actually sparked the talks was that she became infatuated with a white long haired male chihuahua that lives a couple of houses down from us. She would get super excited to see him and cry until we took her out.

Comment by Elys on November 29, 2008 at 10:15am: We are thinking of getting another corgi, as well. Camber, though, isn't a big fan of other dogs. Despite that, we feel that it would be a good thing to have a second dog, not only because 2 corgi's would just be awesome in itself, but it would be good for Camber. Serious talks will occur after the New Year. Good luck with your new addition! Can't wait to see pics.
