Suri was a gift to me recently. She can detect electrical impulses before I have sezures and "herds" me to sit or lie down when a seizure is imminent. I have written this in other places, but, as I am new, don't know if the ? is getting out there. The generous hobby breeder said Suri had been "exposed" to her male stud Corgi a week before I got her and not to be surprised if pups showed up! Shocked, I was speechless. Can anyone tell me( vet visit still 2weeks away) what to look for, how to prepare? ANYTHING????? Soon!???

So you guys know --- I am canine illierate ( apparently). The vet appointment is still 2 weeks away( when she can get us in AND when I can afford her!) Somebody talk to me about nipples. Suri HAS them. They LOOK big, but I have no frame of reference... I mean, I had eight real children and my nipples remained- so shouldn't HERS? In short, don't female animals always have nipples? Ca n you tell me exactly what to look for? I also am unable to reach the nice lady that gave Suri to me, so no more specs available. The vet will "palpate " for 35.00 + the cost for exam and rabies which I was told could be given regardless of pregnancy... Is that true? As for her diet:Suri was apparently only fed FROM THE PREV ovwner's table, so we have had quite a journey trying to help her learn to eat from a bowl and not cry at the table. Again- no frame of reference!!!Abortion, though this isn't a moral issue, I'd hate to abort any pups that might be seizure sensitive like their mother. It is such a blessing tohave this wonderful friend who literally saves my life regularrly! Thanks for your helpful responses, keep em coming!

How long has it been since she was "introduced" to male? Usually the first few weeks can be like humans, they may have upset stomach, may go off food a little, maybe even sleep little more. As time goes on you may see her nipples getting bigger and softer, her ribs may widen. Obviously at some point she may be big enough to just look at and tell she is pregnant. I would find out exact dates on when she could have been bred. Dogs usually whelp between 58-63 days after breeding. You could schedule an xray (if you suspect her in whelp) about 5 days, no more than 7 before her first due date. That will give you an idea of how many. Any questions as far as labor signs, birth prep give me a shout. I am a breeder (Tanya Taylor).

You could have the pregnancy terminated. There is alot to know and call your vet to discuss this w/them for your best options. Are you willing to whelp her out and go full term? I can send you a bunch of links to read up on it alittle more to be well aware. If she is pregnant..you can't vaccinate her now. You will have to wait til the pups are weaned off of her. The first month is no different then every normal day..the 2nd month you'll want to increase food but not alot and put her on puppy kibble slowly. She can get morning sickness. She might go off of food cause of the hormonal changes w/nausea and tightening of the uterus. You will need to be very familiar w/the whelping process and the danger signs. There is alot and I'm not about to write it all out but you are free to call me or e-mail me directly through my website and if you'd like..could sit up w/you all night when she decides that its time.
