It all happened within a blink of an eye...

Yesterday I had a total scare.
My neighbors have a huge rottweiler and a jack russell terrier. Neither of us have our dogs in the back yard if we aren't with them. We have tried in the past to introduce their dog to our , but the rottie must see see our 3 months old corgis as basketballs(which he like to pop and drag around). We came upon an agreement that only on one of us would have dogs out at one time. So yesterday I check their back yard and no dogs and let the puppies out. They were running and playing and I was working on the yard. When i see the jack russell running to the fence. What happened next happened in a blink of an eye. I see the rottweiler running toward the fence. I drop my saw and go running. Emma sees the rottweiler and runs the other way, But Jack runs towards it . The rottweiler starts hitting the chain link fence with his head and next thing you know he gets UNDER the fence, just pushed out as if it were paper. The whole time his owner is yelling and running, as am I. I get there first and was obviously not thinking because I jumped on the rottweiler, giving him a hug of sorts. Jack was only 3 inches away from him! The owner jumped the fence and was on top of his dog within a second after I grabbed him. He asked if I was alright and I was. Grabbed up my dogs and went inside so he could get his dog back to his house.
The neighbors came over about 3 minutes later and apologized. They had not seen me or the dogs and asked if me and Jack were ok. I assured them we were. They told us that that could not happen again and were going first thing tomorrow to buy a wooden privacy fence. They are out there now putting it up!. I was so scared, but am happy that no one got hurt, and that the neighbors are as nice as they are.

I am so glad that everyone was ok! You have a really good neighbor and a fairly responsible owner. I wish the owner at the dog park this weekend was so nice.

Wow..that was scary but I have to say..what awesome neighbors you have. Be very thankful of this. They seem to be taking responsibility for their dog but ultimately isolating their Rottie even more is not the answer. He needs more training but atleast they are doing what they can to prevent and glad to see your understanding as well.

Whoa, I'm glad you could stop the Rottie before he got to your pups. Your neighbors sound like awesome folks. I can't remember the last time I had nice neighbors.
