Bear is one tuff Dog!

Posted on September 9, 2009 at 8:47am 2 Comments

Hi to all,

Once again Bear shows no sign of being poisoned. This time the antidote was started 15 minutes after blood showed signs of poisoning. We put cameras up after the last poisoning but they were only on the house portion of our lot. The lot is an acre. This last time they put the poison on the back 1/2 acre over the back fence. Now we have camera everywhere. I don't think our prisons have as good of security as we have now. Hopefully this protects the babies until we get the house… Continue

Bear's home!!!

I can't tell you how relieved to report Bear is home and in great condition. She had to have a round of Dialysis at USF to remove the poison. If anything like this should happen to your babies( hopefully not) please take them to USF if you live in Florida and to anyone else who can do Dialysis. It's the difference between life and death. We have an acre of totally fenced in yard and they are never out unless I am with them and this has happened twice now. Unbelievable!!! Our house has been for… Continue

Bear Poisoned again!

Posted on September 4, 2009 at 12:45am 17 Comments

Many of you may remember my dog Bear was poisoned with antifreeze in Feb. After two months on Dialysis at the University of Florida and $23,000.000 later she pulled thru. Tonight I let her out and she came in 5 minutes later with blue on her feet. I thought I was just being paranoid but I took her to the emergency vet which confirmed she has again been poisoned with antifreeze. They are starting the antidote now and tomorrow at 7am I will be headed back to USF and hopefully Dr. Bandt can save… Continue

Info about Bear's antifreeze poisoning

Posted on March 19, 2009 at 3:00pm 17 Comments

Unless you read it on the mycorgi post or hear it on the our local news you wouldn't know about poor Bear and her encounter with Anti-freeze.

On the 18th of Feb. our neighbor came into pur fenced back yard in the middle of the night and put Anti-freeze in my two Corgi's water bowl. They are inside dogs (but when they are outside playing I want them to have water.) On the 19th Bear only drank from it and I noticed she wasn't acting normal right away so I was looking on our porch to see if… Continue

Bear Survived Anti-freeze Poisoning!!!

Posted on March 18, 2009 at 11:34pm 14 Comments

Hi , I wanted to give you an update on Bear. She survived the poisoning after being on Dialysis since February 22nd. at UF. She is home now and feeling great. Only time will tell if there is any permanent damage to her kidneys but right now no further treatment is needed and they seem to have recovered completely . A short month ago she was fighting for her life and today she seems like her old self . Mainly because we caught it in time, knew what it was, got the antidote quickly and then the… Continue

Ooops......didn't finish and hit the button by mistake. What I was trying to say was that I don't want Bear to be in danger again but it would be nice to catch the guy in the act with your cameras without the dogs getting hurt. I hope he doesn't know you installed them!! It stinks that a criminal is running you out of your home. It's not fair is it! Good luck selling.

Betty, were the authorities not able to gather enough evidence to charge this guy? Even after the second poisoining? Unbelievable! I don't want him to try this again but it would be nice if he would get caught trying

They do seem like a very special group of docs and techs at UF. I am positives she's getting a lot of love. I do know how lonesome it can be when they aren't at home. My corgi, Lola, was treated for cancer last year at Florida Veterinary Specialists in Tampa. She had to have radiation treatments every day for 4 weeks. Like you, I couldn't drive back and forth every day so she stayed there during the week and came home on the weekends. I was so sad during that time. I felt like a piece of me was missing. But she's home now and doing great. I am thankful for every day I have with her. I believe Bear will be home soon too! She seems like she's doing really well. I will absolutely keep praying though!!!

I am a vet tech student and have beautiful corgi myself. I got to meet Bear today at UF. She is beautiful and very sweet! Some other students and I were taking a tour when someone brought Bear into the ward we were visiting and told us her story. It broke my heart! I hope you can get the evidence you need to charge the guy. I will keep Bear in my prayers! Best of luck to you.
