After having Kabu since November 2011, the family finally met him this past weekend.  With that, all I have to say is that, "its not family, with out any drama"

So I carried Kabu's crate like how a parent would carry a car set into a house.

First reaction, "AHHHH!! A DOG!" from a six year old child... I was getting worried. But it was just out of pure excitement.

I took Kabu out of his crate and outside in the backyard to play with the kids.  Their interaction with my Kabu was pleasant. Kabu had fun with the kids and herding them around.  In my mind, I think Kabu was seeing sheeps instead of children. Yes, lots of kids, I have a big family.

So after playing with the kids was over, it was relaxing time inside the house.  Now that's when we had some issues.. WITH THE ADULTS.

So a very happy Kabu loves to let his tongue hang low and Kabu has a long.  So one comment was "why is his tongue always hanging out. Is he some kind of Pervert?"

WHAT!! o_O

Then another adult member of the family was "playing" with Kabu.  He was definitely doing something to which Kabu did not like and I didn't like.  Kabu never gets aggressive and shows his fangs... but this time he did. I tempted to tell Kabu, "Go get him BOY!"  But I never really cared for this member of the family so this dude can go to hell for all I care.  Ah.. the in-laws... can't find anything good about them.

So, with that say, who needs humans when we have dogs!

Kabu, mommy will not put you through that again.

I am so glad I am not the only one out there that feels that way about my dogs. I always tell people "If you make my dog bite you, he's not in trouble, you are."
I swear some people have absolutely no common sense or courtesy for others, especially animals. Some people just lose their minds when they interact with a dog.
I explain to people when it comes to Chase, to just completely ignore him. When Chase gets comfortable he will come to you for attention, if he doesn't come to you, then he doesn't want your attention. I am a yound adult, so I don't have any human children so Chase is my baby. He is like my child and I treat him like such for the most part. Not only do I not have human children but Chase is my only furbaby, so you can imagine.

Ugh, I could just rant about the stupidity of people forever but I'm sure no one has the time to read it all. LOL

This is why I don't often take my dogs with me when I visit others.  Unless I can 100% count on the people to follow my rules and treat my dogs with respect, I just don't bother to subject them to that sort of situation.  As must as I would love to take my dogs with me everywhere, it's more important that I keep their experiences positive.  :)

Years ago while having a gathering at our house the wife of a friend of my husband's started to play with Sparty in a way that I felt was inappropriate..she held his tennis ball out and when he came for it she held it over her head. Just as I was about to say something, Sparty jumped and snagged her sweater. She immediately started to scold Sparty and tell him what a bad dog he was. Fortunately another friend (of mine) that also happens to be a veterinarian immediately spoke up and said "What did you think would happen when you decided to tease him?? It was your fault! " I decided then and there that it was my responsibility to make sure Sparty (and my other dogs) never got put in that position again. I don't care if I sound rude, it is more important that my furry family is protected from people that are lacking in sense!
