Machete’s March Bark Box arrived, and it is FULL of goodies! this time, because he’s old enough now, Machete got to help open the box. he spent a good deal of time chewing on the corners to test it for durability…
First up, we got this ADORABLE felted wool mouse from Lollycadoodle that was just his absolute favorite. Seriously, he got some other toys today from an amazon.com order as well, and while he loved them, he went NUTS for this mouse! Sadly, it did not last the afternoon, he chewed both the ears off, and while we thought it could maybe live a bit longer, he chewed a hole to its inners. Oh well, it was cute and awesome! Just super not durable.
Next up, a hemp bone from Harry Barker’s. Also, it totally has a squeaker in it! Machete LOVES squeaky toys!
Our BarkBox also had TWO bags of treats to try! First, Little Eatz Peanut Butter Cookies (which, apparently are human edible as well, but eh, I’ll save them for the dog, thanks). And also a bag of Feel Good Treats.
Then another poop bag dispenser/holder thingie from Angie’s List? Which, I’m not familiar with, but it also came with a coupon. I guess it’s like a less-sketchy craigslist or something, but hey, dog poop bags, yay!
And another coupon to Pet360? Which, I’ve never heard of, but couldn’t hurt to check out…

Awesome thank you both.
Rae is right, no fabric toy is safe around Bogart. I'm even thinking of switching to the LARGE dog box, and see if that helps...
Hi Becky, we DEFINITELY got the medium for machete after 1 box. I'm not sure if the toy sizes are that different, but the medium was the right size for a corgi. So far, Machete hasn't completely demolished any toy. He had a rope octopus that started falling apart after he spent a few weeks at the tentacles, but he hasn't completely shredded it. Bogart the cardigan is a super chewer, and has destroyed a bunch of the toys I think? but it also depends on the toy. We got a hemp bone that machete loves, and hasn't destroyed yet, but others have torn those apart in minutes. I think it depends on the dog and the toy. But definitely get the medium if you do, because the small sometimes have smallish treats that aren't always ideal for corgis (we had a thing of dental sticks that were too small for him to safely chew on with an early box).
Rae, I have a question for you. I'm considering doing the bark box for Foxy but I'm thinking I need to pick the medium size box for her even though she doesn't fall in the weight size for the medium. My concern is if I get the small box the toys will be destroyed in minutes, she's a strong chewer. What size did you pick for Machete? Thanks.
omg @Bogart, that's exactly what machete did, to both ears! i don't know what's in the mouse, but the corgs LOVE IT!
@Sarah, thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! you rock! i hope your pup is happy with the bark box next month!
BarkBox mouse had an "ear-ectomy" right away! But Bogart still had a great time with it, as you can see in the video...
Hey, I'm doing it - thanks for the $5 off referral - hopefully that does something good for you! Can't wait to get started!
@Sarah, dogster has a coupon for barkbox right now, i think that gets you like $10 off subscription. if you click our link above, you get $5 off (not as good a deal). pawalla (a similar service) has a deal on fab.com right now that seems pretty awesome.
from what aragorn said below one note on the box sizes, it's not size in terms of number of items in your box. it's size of dog. as in the items in your box are geared towards your small, medium, or large sized dog. so no toy poodle sized treats go to your great dane and no collars big enough for a bernese mountain dog go to your chihuahua, ya know?
i recommend contacting barkbox directly, too. cuz they are super helpful and nice!
Love the video of Machete playing with his toy mouse.
Machete looks great - he's big but he is a boy. Have you been happy with the barkbox program so far - do you think it is worth it in terms of liking what is sent? I keep spending $ for treats and toys etc. for Phoebe - they love stuff so much - and think maybe I should do this too. From what you have shared it seems like good things, good choices.
