Just a chip, but it helps not only in identifying lost dogs but also if she somehow makes it to a vet or a shelter if they scan her they will know to contact you.
I believe if someone claims the dog is theirs that if a vet find a chip that is registered to someone else they have to verify with the original owner that you surrendered/sold your dog.
I would highly recommend PetKey, they have a one time fee for the life you the animal instead of paying every year.
My vet charges $70 for the chip and the lifetime registration.

No she's not microchipped but my wife and I just got done talking and she's calling to make an appointment so that we can take our other one in to have it done.

is there a GPS tracking chip that can be implanted? or just the microchip?
