This past week I have watched on facebook as Wendworth Corgis (one of our members) frantically searched for beautiful retired Champion Winston. He was recently retired to a new home and has been missing for almost a week. He is in the Broadview Heights area in northern Ohio. Has been sighted at the Briarwood Golf course. Any mycorgi members in that area keep an eye out for him. He is a beautiful red headed tri.
Just noticed this morning that the very famous Pudge the Poopster of Cori Addict fame has also gone missing in the SW Houston area last night. He is in the Willowbend area and is a fluffy black headed tri.
If you live by any of these areas keep on the lookout and if you are like me and live no where near these areas, hold your corgis close and pray for the safe return of these two!

Apparently Winston was traveling along a busy road (they think heading back to his original home) and while people stopped to try to catch him someone drove through and hit him and continued on without stopping. Some kind people picked him up and took him to a vet but he did not make it. The new owner's mother was supposed to be taking care of him but did not tell anyone he was gone for 5 days. Many people made poor choices that resulted in his death but many cared and tried to help also. Just a sad ending, be very careful with your pups.
This just breaks my heart. Neither of mine have any kind of street smarts at all, they only thing they understand about cars is that it's fun to ride in one. Shame on that driver for not stopping!
That was our greatest fear when Max got out a couple of weeks ago. It was at night so it's even harder to see a small animal when you are driving. The few times that Max has gotten out over the years he has never left the neighborhood but our dead end street is open to a major cross street in town.
Yes Geri that is about what I heard too. The dog sitter was a family member. Wendy's family is heartbroken as are all of us thinking about how sad and senseless this was.
Oh my...what a horrible and preventable tragedy...so close to being "home". I would be so upset!
It sounds like the people he was retired to went on vacation and had a housesitter who let him out without a leash. Winston was gone six days before anyone was told. Winston was trying to get back to Wendy and was only five miles from home when he was hit. The driver didn't stop. It's such a tragedy I can't wrap my brain around it. Everyone hug your corgis tight in remembrance of Winston.
(*if I've got this wrong please let me know)
So sad to hear this awful news. :(
Some of them just get panicky when they get loose and no one can get near. I've twice used my dogs as a lure to catch strays, but it takes patience and good aim with the lasso. You really need two people; one to hold the lure dogs and another to form a noose and drop it over the head and tighten it.
Such a sad ending for such a handsome boy. :-(
Wendy's post just said that they had found him and were at the vet with him sending him over the bridge. No details but that seems likely that he was hit by a car. So sad as there have been sightings but he was too frightened for them to catch him. I hope everyone hugs their corgis a little closer. So sad when one goes before his time!
Oh no, poor WInston! I just went over to the Daily Corgi and didn't see it posted... So sad. Did he get hit by a car?
