Machete is totally dubious of Mondays.  We had an issue at home with the bathroom renovations and the WORST CREW EVER and it's made the house a disaster and is slowly traumatizing the pets.  The cats are dealing with the worst of it, right now, poor lil' guys.

Machete is not a fan of the car at the moment.  He will quietly settle eventually, but at the start he's getting fussier.  Probably because trip home, trip to the vet, trip to take the boy to work, and today? trip to my job to visit the pre-school people (adults, not the children).

He is so well-behaved and sweet and everyone immediately falls in love with him, which is nice, because really, how could you not?

Of course, to socialize him and get him used to people we usually have new people give him cookies (treats) and pet him and say hi and he'll either sit or come or perform some other command and get heaps of praise.  Yesterday I realized we may be ruining his little puppy outlook because for now the world is a happy place where everyone loves him and gives him cookies when they meet...the day will come when he will meet someone who does not give him cookies and he will most likely hate that person :p

He did excellent at the school, was so well behaved and sat pretty.  Even wore his fancy blue bowtie for his outing.  The construction noises are upsetting his napping schedule a bit, I tried to get him out of the house as much as possible for it today, but all he wants to do is snuggle in his bed (he LOVES his bed, seriously) and play with his favorite toys and be home...

Poor lil guy.

But as you can see, even with all the banging and sawing and whatever other disastrous noises these jerkwads are making today, he's not letting it get between him and a little snooze time.

Gosh, poor guy, what a terrible life.  He looks so miserable in that bed, under his blanket.  All these people perstering him and shoving things in his face.  I feel so sorry for him in this cruel, cold world...

Aw, so cute!  Sounds like he's doing great.  We made sure to take Jack on a lot of short, fun car trips to get him over associating the car with leaving home and going to the vet.

Personally I would only use treats to socialize with a pup that is fearful or timid, which it sounds like he's not.  The idea is to think of people as fun for their own sake, not because they carry food.  Jack recognizes and remembers every person he met as a puppy and those are all his favorite people.  The first that he met when he came home was our neighbor, and he positively adores her and goes all puppy-like whenever he sees her; flattened ears, lowered body, squirming and grinning.  He does the same with my mom, who was also an early person he met.  He also has some other friends, both dog and human, that he met during the first socialization period that we see regularly and he turns himself inside out for all of them even though not a one gave him a treat.

You will find with most Corgis that if they associate a person with food, they will totally ignore the person himself and focus like a laser on the hand or pocket they think the treat is coming from.  They can also become quite pests with trying to mug people for treats.  I actually hate when people give my two treats because they become rude, pushy, obnoxious beasts.

So cute!! Poor Machete; I hope the construction goes smoothly from here on out and ends soon!

Surprisingly, he doesn't bark at the noises, but a particularly loud crash made him start and scurry into his crate for a moment.

Haha, Machete looks so comfortable! Believe it or not all the sounds going on around him might actually be a good thing for him in the long run.  He is getting socialized with all the many sounds and will most likely be less barky at every tiny sound when he grows up.  Just a way to look at the situation with the glass half full  =P
