friday we somehow managed to get ourselves together and get on the road to duxbury in one piece, but it was an ordeal for sure.
and then, and then, after FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER OF WAITING, we finally picked up machete! and he was perfect and snuggly and adorable and awesome. we spent some time with anne learning about his feeding habits, his training regimen and how to groom him properly and then he was all ours! we packed him up in the car and headed out to see our friend jeanne, who lives nearby.
look at that face, is that not the most adorable face you have ever seen?!
oh my god, and he was SO WELL BEHAVED! how is this only a 12-week old puppy? he's so sweet natured and his temperament is incredible. he even did well with jeanne's cats.
he's very well trained on the leash, he comes when he's called and he's just the snuggliest little corgi ever. he's such a sweet boy. after a while we piled into the car and came home to fix machete his dinner and play a bit. he took to his crate immediately and so far he has a tenuous tête-à-tête going with the cats. lola is dealing with it fine, nacho is a bit of a giant buttlord when it comes to the puppy.
today (2/2/13) we took machete to the vet for a well puppy visit. everyone fell in love with him at the vet's office but the best part was that he is SO FREAKING WELL BEHAVED! he is like, the perfect little gentleman puppy. even surrounded by people and tons of various cats and dogs (we also saw another real sweet 18-month-old corgi boy there). seriously? best.puppy.ever.
after the vet, he was pretty rambunctious and we played, trained some and now he's having a nap. but so far, this puppy is just a dream and we couldn't be happier. he sleeps through the night, he's so quiet, and he's just the cutest little thing.

Total cuteness!
What a wonderful blessing to finally get your puppy, and he is everything you wanted in a corgi pup. Cheers to the breeder who did such a wonderful job with Machete! I am truly happy for you. He looks precious!
I am so excited for you. Machete sounds like a perfect angel, and he looks soooo adorable! Congratulations!
We are so happy for you! Congratulations and glad everything is going well! Machete truly is 100% adorable, amazing and cute! Wish we lived closer so we could meet him in person.
He is gorgeous. This is part of what you get with a good breeder. When we brought Jack home, we put him in his crate at night and he cried for five minutes and went to sleep and did not get up til morning. We set an alarm for around 5:30 AM and we woke him up, or rather we got up and went down and he was awake and waiting for us.
Jack was very rough and tumble, but his litter was and his mom was. He wasn't afraid of anything, ever and he adored everyone and every dog he met from the minute we brought him home.
Congratulations on your new pup, good job on picking the breeder. Now get him out and continue to socialize the heck out of him. :-)
He is beautiful!
Sounds like you found the right breeder.
She socialized the litter and took time to educate you about your new boy.
Congratulations. Enjoy every minute. They grow up so fast!
This is why I always recommend going with a breeder who knows what they're doing and have been practised in rearing a litter from day one. Machete's awesomeness is part nature, and a LOT of nurture. :-) I'm so glad he's everything you wanted!
we're fully prepared for him to go buck wild at 4-5 months for his teenage 'rebellion' and probably again around 14-18 months. but for now he's just so sweet and well-behaved, so we'll take it!
Congrats!!! He is adorable!!! :)
p.s. i'm not jealous that your 12 week old is better behaved than two year old Tommy ... no, not at all....... ok, maybe a little.
