It’s been pretty wicked cold out in Colorado the last few days, and from what I understand, it’s been pretty cold just about everywhere! Last night, in particular, I just couldn’t get warm. My feather comforter is at the cleaners, so I’m making do with a bunch of other blankets, but it just isn’t as warm and cozy. My feet were especially cold. So I had a *brilliant* idea to put Ginny to good use as a foot warmer! She already sleeps under the covers (very spoiled, I know), so I just scooted her down to the end of the bed and tucked my footies under her warm little body. I think I’ve discovered that this is the perfect job for a corgi! Their little bodies are the perfect size for this. Not too big, not too small… and she just snoozed contentedly while providing a wonderful service for her mom! Maybe my corgi will never herd livestock, but I think I’ve finally found a job she’s good at!

Every night's a Two Dog Night for us.
My old climbing buddy once went ice-climbing in the Canadian Rockies with his pal who has two corgis. They used them for footwarmers in the tent. They invented the term, "corgi toss" (which my dogs now recognize as a routine command in rough terrain).

I was cooking last summer in driving rain about 6000' just inside the door of my tiny dry 1-man tent, alternately warming my freezing fingers and toes under Gwynnie, my own personal mink. Wealth cannot buy such comfort.

You'll find Al as Mr. December in the 2009 calendar. That very night, sleeping beside me without a tent, a wind came up so I gave him my pile jacket. Sometime during the night, he crawled into a sleeve and got stuck in there like a sausage.

aaawww cute story! Our Jillie sleeps in our bed also, but between us and by my shoulders. She does like to cover her face with the covers!

Kota doesn't like to be under the covers either :( , but he likes to be at your feet when you are sitting somewhere... I love him

Belle is a on top sleeper also. She has to be right at the edge of the bed in case there is a call to bark. She also sleeps at wife's feet on foot stool during the evening. These are the best pals you can have, so sweet and kind.

Lily won't sleep under the covers. She has to sleep between the two of us longways. She will lay on our feet when we are in the recliner though when she isn't getting a bellyrub.

So cute! Corgis seem to like to be near their people's feet anyway, which works out great for the both of you.

I heard that in the old days (before central heating), women of nobility kept small dogs for warmth; Ginny's just reviving that old practice!
