Identifying and zapping bugs are more my cats' expertise, but Lucy is rather enamored of trying to catch moths and butterflies when they flutter near her face.
Ellie will try to catch something if it flies right in front of her nose, but otherwise ignores them. Yuki, on the other hand... I always know when there's a fly in the house, because Yuki will jump up out of a sound sleep and start snapping his jaws as he tries (usually unsuccessfully) to catch the offending insect.
Scout chases (and sometimes catches) flies. She will get this intent look toward the window, light, etc. and you know she found one. Last night, we found (and I had to restrain her from killing and eating) a huge slug.
Tomahawk loves rolling on june bugs and and roaches. He paws at them first, then starts rolling on them, stops and realizes he has killed it. He will then eat them. I love watching him "hunt" his bugs. He looks so silly.
Sparkle loves to chase crickets and it's fun to watch her. Typical puppy playing more like a cat than a dog. She doesn't catch them though, they are too quick for her. Gromit just watches with a look that says "Oh good grief, grow up!"
