It is really amazing how quickly a little corgi can go from being on top of the world to feeling not so hot. Sunday was a very typical day. We went to the barn, I let the bangers run loose out in the fields so they could get their run on. And then in the tack room for a nap while I rode. When we got back home, I ran errands while the corgis rested. By the time I got home that evening, I could tell Molly was not feeling well. She wanted to go outside constantly, and she was whining. When we went outside, she peed and peed and even tried to pee when there was nothing coming out.

Uh-oh! I've been down this road before. Last March she had a UTI. I got out the flashlight and I followed her around as she tried to pee. No blood thank goodness. Okay, I would take her in to the vet the next morning. She had a rough night. She didn't sleep well and wanted to go outside a lot.

Molly was a doll for Dr. Taylor. http://www.planetrockwall.com/rockwall_county_veterinary_c.htm Molly loves anyone that sweet talks her, and Dr. Taylor knows the way to a corgi's heart. She had a normal temp, but her urine sample showed that she had a bladder infection. We x-rayed her kidneys and nothing abnormal. Dr. Taylor wonders if maybe the infection from the last time didn't get completely knocked out. So now, Molly is on 'Baytril" for 21 days to make sure we really knock out that infection and I am switching her to a prescription food as a preventative. Dr. Taylor said that females are more prone to UTI's and bladder infections due to their short urethra.

Within 24 hours of being on the antibiotics, Molly was feeling like her normal bossy self.

After the vet, she and I went to pick up horse blankets. What was so cute and sweet was that she really loved Molly and Mommy time- no Tigs to invade the party. Even if it was just going to the vet and picking up horse blankets, I could tell she felt special. The next day, when I locked Tig up in his kennel (still not 100% potty trained) she thought it was time for Molly time again. Unfortunately, it was time for me to go to work- sans corgis. I need to take her out to do some stuff on her own.

Next time on the corgilicious blog: Molly's barn fun birthday party! Woo-hoo!

One of my corgi's had/has a similar problem. He has to stay on antibiotics long term because his bladder has a pocket where pools of urine form causing infections. One of the x-rays I had done showed that his bladder is misshapen. Good luck with yours!
