My friend is living in a duplex and her roommate just moved out. I would save over $275 a month just by moving in with her. She does have 2 cats who have never lived with a dog before, but Callie loves cats. Her cats do have herpies... does anyone know if feline herpies can spread to dogs? I don't think they do...
Callie would have a little extra room to run around inside, and I'd be moving closer to a lake and a dog park. I guess my biggest concern is getting the cat's used to Callie. We plan on introducing them slowly and over the 2 months that I will still be living where I am. Tonight I am bringing her over to the place and letting her sniff around with the cats in the basement. (Callie will not go down stairs, we trained her not to go down stairs when she was a pup because we were remodeling my parents basement) So there will be no contact unless they sniff through the door. Any more tips? (My parents have 3 cats, so Callie is used to them)
I'm excited for the new change, but am not looking forward to moving in January. (Minnesota January)

Good luck with making all your moving decisions. It's hard to rent with dogs, but our babies are so worth it arent they?!

The cat litterbox is downstairs so Callie won't ever go near it. I'm not positive we will end up moving. After talking to my apartment office me moving out will cost more than I can afford, so even with cheaper rent there I can't pay upfront to move out. *sigh* But we will see how things work out. If I don't move in with her she has to move out.

Oh yes, moving in January could be a challenge! I have 3 cats and although 2 don't necessarily like the dogs they tolerate them! My 3rd thinks he is a dog as he grew up with Livvy! I have found that the cats will just hide for a week or 2 and then slowly start coming around! The cat litter box maybe a special place that Callie will like so I'd keep that in a safe place but I don't see any problems! As for the herpes I would check with the vet!

Nope -- feline herpes cannot spread to dogs, it's just contagious to other cats. You just have to keep an eye on it and know you'll have episodes, and be careful introducing kittens or immune compromised cats. :) I have a cat here with it and no problems whatsoever with the dogs.

Best of luck on the move - brr, that's a cold time to move!
