Not Corgi Related - But GRRRR People Make Me So Mad!

One of my cats developed a hematoma in her ear from scratching (she had a yeast infection in her ears caused by her allergies)

Vet said they were going to drain, stitch and button it...

I didn't think they really meant "buttons"

She was not amused lol.  Then turns out they did the surgery all wrong, so I had to take her back into the vet 2 days later to have surgery completely redone.

And they added more buttons...

So now she has to have buttons for the next 2 weeks and I have to put yeast infection drops in her ears until Friday.  Least fun part of this job?  Her name is Miss Princess Pooky Prissypants, but she is nicknamed "Ppants" because every time you have to corner and catch her, she pees on you.

This cat pees on me every morning and every night so that I can put medicine in her ears.  How can anyone say I don't love my animals?  lol!

Anyway, I have been posting regular updates on my facebook page because my friends keep asking about her.  Then today, somebody actually had the nerve to inform me that I was an "Evil" person because I would allow my cat to "Suffer" this horrible agony instead of giving her "Peace" (kill her!).  I was like WHAT?!  I have been giving her pain meds and she only has to have buttons for 2 weeks?!!!  And this lady was like "2 weeks is a long time for a cat to suffer.  You should put her out of her misery.  I pray that you will make the right decision."

WHAT?!?!?!!!!

I hardly think that having button ears for 2 weeks call for a death sentence!!!  Needless to say, this person has been banned from my facebook page, but it just made me feel awful!  I have always done anything in my power for Frosty, all the cats and our other animals so that they would be happy and healthy.  I hate mean people :(

Yay, great news the buttons were removed on schedule!!  Glad to hear all is going well, hope it continues to.  Lance agrees, who needs ears to stand up, they are cute up or down, and he has two ears down and we don't think his will ever stand again either.

Prissypants got her buttons removed on schedule today! There is a lot of scar tissue, and we are not sure if her ear will ever stand up again. Not that it matters, she is still my rotten brat lol! She has been hiding all day in protest over being taken to the vet again, but I am hoping she will forgive me soon ;)

Prissypants is doing much better these days. We were finished with ear treatments Friday, so she got to spend a quiet weekend not peeing on me. Now that the swelling has gone down, her button ear is totally floppy & looks hilarious!! Looking forward to going to the vet Thursday to get her buttons out.

Haha, when my childhood lab got a hematoma and they put buttons on her ear too! We said she looked like a folk art pillow :)

Best wishes on a speedy recovery for your kitty!

Oh I totally think the pictures are hilarious.  Her total disgust is just classic.  The buttons are to keep the front and back of her ear pressed together to prevent blood from refilling the ear while it heals.

The expression on your kitty's face in that first picture is just classic... Sorry, but it is sort of funny ;->

As for the person who posted... Seriously?   Putting a cat to sleep for being "tormented" with buttons for a couple weeks?!

Sorry to laugh but the buttons are pretty funny! Poor kitty. I've never seen this approach before but very clever! You know in your heart that 2 weeks is actually not all that long in the scheme of things and your kitty will survive! An ear hematoma is hardly a reason to put an animal to sleep and after she gets used to the buttons she will be fine! I bet in a week she won't even notice she has them. I LOVE the crinkle ear they get after an ear hematoma, you will have your very own 1/2 scottish fold kitty! She's very cute.

So sorry for your troubles! It is always easier to tell someone else what to do! Hopefully you will soon be looking back at this episode and having a good laugh about it with Ppants.....buttons are kinda funny :)

Chris, I'm so sorry! That's horrible!! Maybe this person was just trying to get to you! Obviously there is no way anyone could believe that! Hang in there, miss ppants! I think those buttons look good on you! Get better soon! :)

Hoping she gets better soon.  Whoever posted this doesn't know much about being a "parent" to animals.  If their child was really sick, they wouldn't ever think of doing what they suggested.  I recently deleted a friend on Scout's page for similar posts to one of her friends.

Just asking, what is the purpose of the buttons?  Can't tell from the pictures.
