Not so great at updating as much as I should, but an update of the Murphster anyway

Murphy is doing great. He still chases Stella though. I would have thought that she would have been old news to him by now, but such is not the case. Everyday he rips through the house, trying to get her, but she's too fast for him. I think she brings it on herself most of the time, she taunts him by making cute, pathetic sounds even when he's not around her. We say that she's calling for him to get him into trouble. She plays in his water bowl when we aren't around to make it look like Murphy made the mess, but we know better because we have caught her in the act before and we keep him in our room when we are at work.

We got our fence installed and he has been having a blast ever since. It's so much fun to watch him run through the yard, chasing birds and investigating. He's not that great at listening, but what can you do if you can't afford a trainer. We've been doing our best and I think for a dog that has never had professional training, he listens pretty good, just not all of the time. He gets into his "zone" when he's outside and just completely ignores us when he's wandering around the yard, sniffing the grass and is focused on whatever's got his attention. It's like he doesn't even know we're calling for him and it can be impossible to get him to come inside sometimes. I think he's getting a little bit better though, I'm sure everyday will get easier. Now that he has full reign of the yard which he wasn't used to, I guess he's just trying to use it to his full advantage. We planted a flower bed last weekend and someone's been sneaking mulch, so now I've gotta watch him like a hawk because he definitely knows better. He'll walk as quietly as he can so I can't hear his collar jingle and take some. He's waaay too smart, he does the same thing when he goes upstairs to harrass Stella. We try to go after him so we can get the mulch from him, but he thinks its some sort of game and starts his growling and hopping. Then he flashes his adorable, heart melting grin and then its all over. He is most definitely spoiled to the core.

Also, if Chris is ever angry about something then Murphy crawls onto my lap and gets as close to me as possible. If Chris is ever annoyed about something or just not in the best of moods, Murphy will go over to him and get on his hind legs to give Chris kisses. I think he's trying to comfort him. I just love his personality and he's got a wonderful sense of humor too. He'll wrap his stuffless toy around his snout and once we start laughing, he stops what he's doing and looks right at us and then run around the room like that. I've never met a dog so full of life like him.
