Alyssa & Chris W.'s Blog (24)

Been a really long time, but I have something new to share :o)

I'm not the greatest at keeping up with things on here. I know it's been a really long time since I posted last. I guess Murphy and I have just been having too much fun. He will be 3 years old the day after Christmas and still as rowdy as ever. Life would be so boring without him though, he keeps us on our toes for sure. I should also mention that we are adding a new family member in the near future. Chris and I have decided to enter the world of parenthood so Murphy will be a big brother.…

Not so great at updating as much as I should, but an update of the Murphster anyway

Murphy is doing great. He still chases Stella though. I would have thought that she would have been old news to him by now, but such is not the case. Everyday he rips through the house, trying to get her, but she's too fast for him. I think she brings it on herself most of the time, she taunts him by making cute, pathetic sounds even when he's not around her. We say…

New job

I've been employed now for a month and Murphy has been doing wonderful by himself for the three hours that I'm gone. I'm glad that I only work as little as I do. Its been really great making a little money and still have the time to run errands, do things around the house, have dinner ready or at least started by the time Chris gets home and of course play with Murphy and take him for a walk. Its been so convenient and Chris likes it too even though I'm not making much, every little bit…

Dog of the day on The Daily Corgi

On Monday September 27th, Murphy was the dog of the day on the blog The Daily Corgi. We were beaming with pride. I told the writer about him months ago and we had talked of getting him on her blog and into the daily Corgi calendar which he will now be featured in as well. She did a nice little write up of Murph for the blog and I'm very proud of it. We have it saved on the computer and it will probably get put into his scrapbook once I start making one for him and Stella. Here is the link… Continue

Falling into autumn

Been awhile since I posted last so I just thought I'd share with what's been going on around here. Nothing new has really been happening. Murphy is still amazing. He's such a sweet boy and I can't imagine my life without him. Fall is coming and I'm excited to get him into the leaves again this year. I'm really excited for it to get here. We're still strongly thinking about getting another pup once we are able to. Although sometimes I think one is enough, but I do think Murphy would love having… Continue

Update from the last post

Well things are getting better with Murphy staying away from Stella. I have been trying the spray bottle technique and its been going very well. He hates it and I think he's afraid of being sprayed which definitely makes him more hesitant to go after her. Over the weekend, Stella laid on the floor and Murphy just stayed away, watching her, but he made no sudden movements or anything. We have also been leaving her food down again to see if he might learn to stay away from it so that way she can… Continue

Murphy is stressing out Stella :o(

We took Stella, our cat, to the vet for her annual appointment. Before we took her we had noticed a few months before that she was losing her fur around her belly and lower areas, but we had just thought that it wasn't anything to worry about. The vet noticed right away that she had a large patch of fur missing and said that it was a form of Feline Alopecia. He had said that there are different types and it can be caused from many different thing including stress which is what Chris and I think… Continue

Vacation is over, but we're glad to have our little boy back

We went to Virginia Beach for the week and took Murphy to Chris's aunt and uncle's house. They have two dogs so I knew he would have a great time playing with them. We had a great time at the beach, but every time we saw someone with their dog, we'd always say, "Murph would really love it here." So, we decided that the next time he'll definitely be coming with us now that we know its a dog friendly beach. We missed him so much. We're glad to have him back. We called his aunt and uncle every… Continue

New trick

So for the past couple of days we've been trying to teach Murphy how to shake our hands and it took a little bit. He wasn't quite understanding what we were trying to do when we'd push his paw forward to get him to put it up, but he's finally got it. He's so cute when he does it. All he ever tries to do is please us and make us happy and he always does. We love him so much. We have such a great dog.

Spring is here

The flowers are blooming, the bugs are buzzing and the Corgis are frapping. Murphy has been enjoying the warmth of the sun quite a bit lately and getting two walks daily. He just loves it. We've had him on the front porch with us a lot lately too and he likes that also, but i know he would prefer to have the entire yard to run. We'll be getting a fence for him either next month or in May. I'm really excited.

Last evening while we were sitting on the porch on the laptop looking for… Continue

Trying a new food

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has given us advice about what to do for Murphy's allergies. We have decided to take your advice and go food shopping for Murphy. I had been doing research on grain-free and trying to find different places that carry Canidae, we found an Ag center that said they did, but they didn't have the flavor we were looking for. We have not only decided to go grain-free, but also to eliminate Chicken and to look for a food that has Salmon or other fish, just… Continue

Update on Murphy's allergies

We took Murphy to the vet on Friday because the medicine he had been taking wasn't really working like it had been before and we noticed some red dots on his belly. They come and go though so we didn't know what was making them appear. The vet said that it must be something in the environment and the weather here in PA is very unpredictable so that wouldn't surprise me. Murphy has also started to drop his coat so I'm hoping his instincts are right and maybe spring will come sooner rather than… Continue

Murphy's under the weather

Murphy hasn't been feeling too well. He's had diarrhea for a week now. I don't know how he got it or why its taking so long to get out of his system, but I feel really bad for him. We haven't been doing anything different with his food, he's been eating what he always eats. Right now, my poor baby is upstairs on our bed. I went up and checked on him and he wouldn't even move until I started rubbing his belly then he rolled onto his back, but he doesn't look like he's feeling too well. I feel… Continue

I can't believe my baby's a year old!

Murphy turned one year old on December 26th and I cannot believe it. I remember when I found his breeder's website and I saw his cute little puppy face. I knew that he was the one I wanted. I showed Chris while he was at work and he just happened to pick the same puppy that I did. I knew it was meant to be. He was meant to be ours. I'll never forget how excited I was to pick him up from the airport. I waited and waited all day in anticipation to get him, but we had to wait till 11 PM because… Continue

The itch that just wouldn't go away..until now

I know its been awhile since our last post so I figured I better update and tell you all what's been going on with our little boy. For months now, he had been very itchy and would scratch and bite constantly and it recently got worse. It became so bad that we couldn't even sleep at night because he'd be scratching and moving the bed so much, we'd put him on the floor and could hear him constantly and he'd still keep us up, so we ended up having to put him out in the hall in his cage until… Continue

Murphy's first play date was a success!

We met up with Stef, Bill, Tanner and Carmen at a park in Conyngham. It was the halfway point for us so neither of us would have to drive so far. We let the puppies play in a fenced tennis court so that way they could run around and be "free" and not have to get tangled on their leads. They had so much fun as did we. They played so much, 3 hours worth of playing. Of course, they took their water and snack breaks though. They didn't rest much when they did, Murphy tried to creep up on Carmen a… Continue

Almost 11 months

Just thought I'd update on what's been happening and how our Murphasaurus has been. He hasn't grown much since he's hit the 8 month mark, but he seems healthy and happy. I have also noticed that he would rather play with his toys and frap around than eat his breakfast or dinner. Sometimes he ends up skipping a meal because I'll take his food away if he doesn't touch it after a half hour. Pretty different from what I hear about most Corgis loving to eat and "never eating enough". He's been a… Continue

Irresponsible pet owners always make me so mad! and an update on Murphy.

There's always these dogs and one of them is a Corgi. Usually I only see the 2 of them, but today I also saw a third dog with them roaming the neighborhood. This happens very often. There are never any people accompanying them and they're just out walking about, being curious little doggies. I would really hate to see something bad happen to them. People need to be more responsible. I know who the Corgi belongs to and I wouldn't be surprised if the other dogs belonged to them as well. These… Continue

Murph's nub

I have noticed now for the last month that he's got a very cute long strand of hair growing out of his nubbin. I don't know why it's growing there or if it's a usual thing to happen. I'm gonna assume that its because his nub will grow along with how the rest of him will. Either way, I think it's really adorable.…

7 months last Sunday already

Murphy can finally jump onto the couch and chairs. We always had to lift him up before, but now he can do it on his own. :o) He can also jump onto the twin beds in the guest room, which is really difficult when I'm trying to move Stella over there so he doesn't try and play with her like one of his squeakers. I swear, he thinks she's a toy.

I have noticed that he's been getting scabs on different parts of his body and I don't know where they're coming from. The one on his chest was… Continue
