We took Murphy to the vet on Friday because the medicine he had been taking wasn't really working like it had been before and we noticed some red dots on his belly. They come and go though so we didn't know what was making them appear. The vet said that it must be something in the environment and the weather here in PA is very unpredictable so that wouldn't surprise me. Murphy has also started to drop his coat so I'm hoping his instincts are right and maybe spring will come sooner rather than later. :o) But back to talking about his allergies, the vet took him off of the medicine that he was on and told us to start giving him Zyrtec because that's just an antihistamine, the other meds were a combination of antihistamine and Steroids. So I'm hoping this works better for him. We also think that the other medicine was causing his diarrhea that I mentioned in our last post. I feel bad for him. I just hope that he can start living a comfortable, non-itch life like a normal dog. I've been keeping an eye on him today and he seems to not be scratching at all so I hope it stays like this.
