Oscar went in for his annual health check today it went quite well seeing he is 10. Oscar had his kennel cough vaccination his worming tablet he also had the hair under his pads trimmed he was to have his nails trimmed the vet will need to do that next week. while checking Oscar's teeth the vet noticed one tooth @ the back was fractured and a bit missing she has recommended an extraction this will be done by her next week. blood was drawn today to see that Oscar is okay to go under? will get the results tomorrow the vet noticed he has a sore back this is more than likely caused due to the fact he is overweight!. So Oscar is now on a diet less food the vet commented that for Oscar's age his health is in excellent condition he is is usual self back at home looking at me rather not amused at the small food portion but I told him it is will be good for him in the long run.
Oscar has to realize he is not a puppy anymore and to take things easy in his golden years!. I have to admit I worry about him going under for the extraction I drop him in the morning and all going well I will collect him later that day bring him home with a list of instructions of what and what not to do. All in all a good outcome but I must admit I am worried I would be lying to myself if I said I wasn't!. This will only be the 2nd time Oscar has gone under the 1st time was when he lost his manhood at 5 months old!.
Will keep you posted on Oscar's progress.
Regards
Oscar, Sam and their Dad Brian

best wishes to oscar for the extraction, good luck! glad he's in good health otherwise, though.
It's always scary when they have surgery...I just had a 6 year old spayed and asked the vet to call me when she was out of surgery...she was fine but I wasn't. Good luck! I thought when Wynn got hurt (his leg)yesterday it might mean surgery and he's 8 but he's doing better.
Does sound like an overall good health check. Max is also 10 and I worry about him too. With the blood test they will know whether he will be ok going under for the extraction. I've had one of our senior cats tested before they could remove a cyst on his upper lip. He did just fine.
As for convincing him he is not a puppy any more....good luck. Max still acts like one but I have to watch him because of his neck problem.
