Well, Hannah went to the vet today for all her yearly shots and tests. She was surprisingly well-behaved! She weighs 25.2 lbs. now at 1 year and 5 months old. The vet said he'd like to see her down a few pounds, so we may be cutting back on food slightly. Her eating habits have actually slowed down considerably, and she doesn't act as if she's starving when she's fed anymore, so I don't think this will be too devastating for her.

Unfortunately, we are still having issues with potty training. She is fairly reliable most of the time, but she just doesn't give very good signals when she needs to go out. We've tried bell training, but although she can ring the bell when prompted, she has yet to follow through with this at times when she needs out the door. She has gotten much better overall, though.

I'm so happy with how well socialized she is with other dogs. We have regular play dates, and most of the dogs she sees are 3 times her size, so she really burns off some energy. We recently made friends with two Boxers, and they absolutely love each other! We've only had one negative experience with another dog, which happened to belong to my niece, and is part Corgi as well. Her dog just did not take to Hannah at all, and nearly injured her by biting. I was a bit disappointed that they couldn't get along, but I'm more concerned upon finding out that my niece will be moving in with me and my family temporarily and she will likely be bringing her dog along. I'm a bit worried about how the situation will pan out, especially with me having to be gone for 13 hours on some days with work and grad school. Still trying to figure out what the best way would be to keep stress at a minimum and prevent any potential disasters, as I really don't see her dog warming up to Hannah at all.

Nothing much else is new, except I will finally have my Master's degree in August, and I can't wait to have more time to spend with my little fur baby!

Congrats on the good vet visit! Getting them to ask to go out has never been one of my strong suits. I just made sure I let them out regularly. With your niece and her dog moving in you might want to try leashing the aggressor for a while. A last resort would be to muzzle.
