Patiently waiting....

I have been wanting a dog since my boston terrier Butchie died almost five years ago. Initially I wanted to get another boston, but I knew that it would never be like Butchie was. After years of research and contemplating I have fallen in love with the corgi breed!

After deciding that the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is the dog for me, I have read many books and talked to several breeders from Oregon and Washington. I have spent months totally geeking out on corgi websites, like Obsessive Corgi Disorder and the Daily Corgi. This weekend I am finally going to meet with a breeder, Sue Sebring of Corgis of Narnia, she has 14 corgis! Several are champion show dogs, and retired show dogs. I can't wait to meet all of them.

Currently I have a small savings account set up and only have a few hundred dollars in it. After talking to Sue, she charges $850 for her corgis, I have a ways to go.... and I have to manage to save enough money to move in the meantime! Ugh! So much to look forward to, but getting my corgi still seems so far away...

Comment by Snickmom on April 12, 2012 at 4:28pm: While you are waiting, have you looked for corgi meetups in your area? It is fun to talk to other corgi owners. If you haven't already, start looking at all the groups on this site, there are some really fun ones- like The Awkward Little Sleepers, Corgi Photographers, Corgis in clothing, etc.
