Seems Jon Farleigh has a little problem with rain...and umbrellas...and walking on leash with ladies under umbrellas...and pooping outside in the rain (even though it's been 13 hours and he's scarfed two meals). Ugh! Mom is very wet and cold and tired...

Loki also! It must be a corgi thing. My husband and I have to take turns going outside with him on rainy days.
What to hear something funny but not good. Loki figured out that when Brandon (my 13yr old son) doesn't make his bed Amber (our cat) will pee on it. So for the longest time we were trying to figure out why Amber was peeing so much on the bed. Then; I figured it out Loki was doing it on raining days and Amber was getting in trouble for it. He set her up. The reason I didn't catch on at first was because I have my son clean it up since he wasn't making his bed in the morning. Then one day I took care of it. The pee spot was too big for a cat and didn't smell like cat piss. We now have a baby gate blocking Loki from going into Brandon’s bedroom. Now that Brandon is making his bed we haven’t had another accident.
Sometimes these dogs are too smart for their own good.

Today was better, as there was little rain, just drizzle. ;) Stephanie: I won't be using my umbrella any time soon, as after I smartly (not) left it on my porch to dry this morning, a gust of wind came along and carried it off into the wild blue yonder!

Maybe leave the umbrella inside and do a raincoat with a hood? Mine despise umbrellas, so I feel your pain.

A couple nights after we got Ginger home it was raining. She would just stand at the back door and make the saddest face I've ever seen. She hated the umbrella more than the rain. I didn't fight too much with her that night and we ended up with 2 messes in the living room. Right then and there I decided she was going to get over going out in the rain...I had to get over it too :). The next day it rained and I put on a jacket and ball cap and drug her outside. We stayed out until she went (30 minutes). Now, even though she doesn't like it, I don't have to fight with her to go potty in the rain, and she's generally quicker about it!

Izzie has the same problem. She'll pee but as soon as she's done she'll hope back into the house if it's raining LOL

Monty's Mom: I can only imagine your misery - I hope you and Monty get a break today! Thanks, everyone for the encouragement and the knowledge that Jon Farleigh isn't the only corgi with this issue. Thankfully, there was a lull in the rain at 7 this morning and he went! (Last night was, unfortunately, another story and I wish I could say he was able to hold it. :-( He and I will be working on making the rain FUN today.

I am so there with you. We are up near DC and it is crazy raining. Monty wants to go out but once he is out there and his little head gets pelted with the big drops he wants back in. I tried to coax him to go with no result and a very wet mommy and very muddy corgi. Hoping we can catch a light wave of rain and try again. To make things worse I broke my foot and I am in a walking cast that I have to wrap in a trash bag and try not to slip and do any more damage. I am supposed to use crutches but that won't work in this weather so I hobble in pain-ah the love of the Corgi!

i know exactly how u feel!! lol teddy already has a pooping problem and he will not go if he hears a noise or if there is anyone near by. but especially when it rains. teddy just got fixed and was having bad runny poos because of it and we are staying with a friend right now and i didnt want there to a huge mess. he held it from 7that night to 3in the after noon the next day. i had to stand out in the pouring rain for an hour. finally he went after my husband ran a little with him. thankfully hes better now, thanks to canned pumpkin:) lol

Haha, my 2 boys are the same way. They eventually go when I take them for a short walk, since emptying their bowels are part of their walking rituals.

This is the first steady, soaking rain we've had in Central VA since sometime last March, and poor Jonny is just miserable in it. He'll pee, but he's not having anything to do with #2 so far. Oh, joy. :)
