Hi! My boyfriend and I got a corgi puppy about a month ago and we just love her to death! However we having great deal of trouble with potty training. Most of the time she will tell us when she has to poop she goes to the wrong door to tell us even though we take her in and out through the same door. The other problem is she won't ever tell us when she has to pee. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with Jane. I would just set a schedule related to mealtime and naps. Go out right away after eating and when she wakes up from a nap. Never go more than a couple of hours. Notice when she DOES go and keep track (write it down) thenyou'll build a chedule.

Ralphie just turned 1 and he is just starting to finally not having accidents (even in the areas he used to always go) our guest bathroom and dining room table.  To prevent this, I kept every door closed in the house and only allowed him in areas where i can keep an eye out.  As the others say and the forum says, prevention is key.  When he did have an accident I calmly took him to the area where he shoudl have gone instead (that's a tip I read on this forum).  It works!    Good luck! :)

Check the FAQ for potty training. Your corgi is still a baby and won't really have good enough control over her bladder yet to understand what door to go to or to signal that she has to go. At this point it is up to you to avoid accidents. If you are consistent she will get it. However, it is unlikely for her to be reliable for at least the first year.

Emma sometimes tells us she had to go out, sometimes not.  We just figured out her routine (needs to go first thing in the morning, needs to go after eating, etc) and we let her out at those times.  It works out pretty well.

Just an FYI-I have 2 corgis that are now 2 years old, and they hardly ever signal to go out.

At that age I wouldn't wait for her to tell you she needs to go out, just take her out every hour or so and watch her like a hawk all the time. If you can't watch her put her in a crate or an xpen.
