Well, we've made arrangements with Barb of Evanwhit, and two Fridays from now, Ani will be coming home with us. (We're going to call her ~Anathema Device after the character from Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's book Good Omens, but Ani will be her short name.)

Naturally we've been reading up on all the things we're supposed to do and get, like puppy proofing the house, how to house break a puppy, the vaccinations, the license, the food, the kennel, the shampoos, the leads and collars, the toys, the baby gates.....the list is endless.

Today I found a Busy Bee. Yes, the Busy Bee....not a bear in a bee suit. Not a parrot. Not a striped fish. But an actual bee! For those who are not sure what I'm talking about, check out this scene from Best in Show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_KrSWI8F2E

Elizabeth, congrats on the decision to give a home to Ani.  I wish you the best with your new adventure.  If I can offer one recommendation, invest in a furminator brush.  They are expensive but very worth it because they remove the undercoat sheds from the corgi.  This is the fur that will primarily cause an allergic flair up.  If you and your boyfriend are diligent about brushing Ani, then you should be ok with his dander.

@Natalie and Tucker - Fortunately, we already have leather couches and chairs. So whew! I wasn't aware that would be a bonus for allergies, but it makes sense.

Looking forward to seeing pics and hopefully too, of Ani!!  Cute name.

Sounds like everything is very well thought out, great news that your allergies are under control so you could bring Ani home.  Just a suggestion, but I love our leather couches not collecting all the fur.  I so want to replace our living room couches so bad with leather.  I am thankful we at least have one set of leather in our family room.

Congratulations!!!

Oh my!  A real Busy Bee!  Just make sure if y'all are in a hotel not to lose it!  Love the name (I'm a big Pratchett fan).

Can't wait to see the pics of the new poopster!  Sounds like you got all the stuff under control.  The list does seem endless, doesn't it?

When the pup's teething, a wet wrung-out dishrag/towel that's been frozen seems to help with the sore gums.  Mine really liked them.  Good luck to you!  It's going to be a blast!
