My bf got his sister a kitten for her birthday, like she's always wanted. They named her Audrey. Audrey got pregnant by a neighbor's cat (assuming) and Wa-shu was born 2003, in this very house. Wa-shu had tan on the tip of her tail, which is the reason why bf chose to keep her. The other kittens were given away to relatives. A few years pass, and Audrey gets hit by a car, and Wa-shu is the only one left.

After 15 months of Ein living in our home, Wa-shu is tolerant of Ein now. Wa-shu is a cat who does not like dogs. Period. She was not fond of my bf's previous dog, a gentle springer spaniel. And when she saw us bring 3 month old puppy Ein home, she freaked out. She wouldn't let Ein face come closer than a foot or so to her. But today, she lets Ein lick her. She even nudged her head at Ein.

Here is a video I made of Ein and Wa-shu, getting along.

20 months later after we bring Ein: When we brought Brian home, she freaked out. After 2 months of Brian living here, she still hasn't warmed up to him. However, she was still comfortable being around Ein.

Five days ago, on December 9th, 2009, I come home from school to find out that the neighbor called our house to tell my bf's mother that he found Wa-shu's breakaway collar covered with a bit of blood and some fur. He says that Wa-shu might have had an encounter with a coyote since his security lights in his backyard kept turning on and off the previous night. Boyfriend whistled for Wa-shu the night after we found out the news, but she did not come running to us like she usually does.

I was in denial that Wa-shu is no longer with us, and I still kind of am. I'm assuming that Wa-shu must have been trapped in some bushes or got stuck in a tree. But her falling prey to a coyote looks plausible, since there was red on her collar. I am doubtful that a coyote got to her. Why would the coyote leave the collar behind? Wa-shu can outrun a coyote, I'm sure of that... She lived in the garage and was allowed in at night and out in the morning for fresh air every day of her adult life. Why did a coyote have to get her that night?

Wa-shu was a very sweet cat. One thing I liked to do was to put my hand out, and she would come and jump up so that she can get petted on the head. She scratched bf and I, not on purpose, but when she wanted to climb up on us. I have a scar that she left on my right arm that will remind me of her. My bf has cared for her since she was born, so she was like my bf's daughter. I keep going to the garage expecting to be greeted by a meow. It seems so unreal...I feel like I lost a part of myself.

We all miss you, Wa-shu. Cats have 9 lives... I hope you come back in some shape or form.

I also hope you are wrong and she will come home but it is likely that a coyote got her. Unfortunately the ones by us have gotten cats before especially at night. If so I am sorry for your loss! I love my cats and would be crushed if something happened to one of them.
