This morning i woke up and let the dogs out like normal. I let them out did a couple of things then went to bring them in so they can eat. Rhun is always the first one in everyday, once he is done his business he always finds a spot to relax by the front door. Well today he was by the back fence laying in the grass and he didn't want to get up and come in side. When i did get him in he started doing this hacking cough like he is trying to hack up a fur ball like a cat but all that ends up happening is a cough comes out. Usually when they hear the click of the container of food open they come running but rhun just stayed layed down in the living room. Went and got him but he still wouldn't eat his food. Called the Vet and got a appointment but it isn't for another couple hours! He also has a dry hot nose, shivering, heavy breathing, and can't keep his eyes open though is is trying to fight it. I am worried sick and the waiting is making it worse, anybody have any ideas?

We are back from the vet. Rhun has a infection in is trachea, he is on antibiotics for 10 days. Good news his fever is going down, nose is cooling off, shivers and getting less frequent. If he doesn't start eating and drinking we are to bring him in tomorrow morning and admitt him for atleast a day or two . There is a chance of it becoming Pneumonia or other respitory infection so we have to monitor systoms but vet says he should be okay as he is already showing signs of improvent.

please rush him to the vet right now, once they see how bad he is they will get him asap. from his symptoms it sounds very serious. or call them and say u r rushing them over. i have dont this to my vets and they dont mind. i mean once you are there its not like they can turn u away. i dont mean to scare you but i would hate for it to get worse:( he could have eaten something he shouldn't of

You had posted a blog earlier about feeding a raw diet. Have you already switched to that?? If so, Could he possibly be have a reaction to that? I think you've made the right decision to go to your vet as soon as you can.

I heard him make the hacking noise in the middle of the night a couple time. He was himself before bed. The shivering stops and starts, he has stopped hacking. As soon as my boyfriend is back with the car he is going to drop me and Rhun off at the vet unit the appointment, so if he gots worse he will already be there. He still wants to play though, Adora stated playing with a toy and he perked up and wanted to go but we wouldn't let him. I will keep you guys posted. Emegancy vet will take forever to get to at this hour of the day with all the construction going on so it is best to just go to our raguar vet which is just 5-10 min drive. But we deffinitly get him there as fast a possible.

My vet will let you drop off your pet before their appointment, and that way if they look like they need quicker treatment, they are where they need to be. I'd call my vet and tell them you're really worried and want to see if you can bring him in sooner. Receptionists give out appointments, but they're not doctors and they can't see your dog. As pet owners sometimes we have to be a little pushy if we feel like we need our animal seen sooner, I think
